I posted this into another 500e forum, but I will repost here to show how much temperature can affect range.

Many people are concerned with range, especially at cold temperatures, so I thought I would contribute with my experiences, especially at colder temperatures.

Living in the great white north (Minnesota) I do have to some energy savings tricks if I need to travel a long distance. The one thing that I did was disconnect the humidity sensor (located behind black cover on the windshield). I did this to have complete control of when the the A/C compressor turns on to defrost the windshield and also to have complete control of the recirc mode climate control.

Did some testing of the Fiat 500e range a few weeks ago during a cold snap. It was exactly 0F outside temperature.

Car sits outside in the driveway. Was fully charged two days prior. So the car and battery pack was “cold soaked” (air temperature).

Did my circular “ring road” route around the outskirts of town that is 16.2 miles total in length. 12 miles of that is 55 mph and 4 miles is 35-40 mph.

    The temperature was 0F, I used 26% charge (74% remaining). 16.2 * (100/26) = 62 miles expected range.
I ran the defroster only for 3 short bursts to clear the windshield of frost.

    On a day where temperatures are 50F, I consistently use 20% charge (80% remaining). 16.2 * (100/20) = 81 miles expected range.

On a day where temperatures were 70F, speed was 30-45 mph, I drained the battery to 0%. I got 96 miles of actual distance.

Did another test yesterday to and from a neighboring town at 60 mph. Temperature was 25F. Ran heat to keep cabin at a comfortable temperature. Once I was home, with 15% charge left, I decided to drive until down to 0%. I got exactly 60 miles.

    So in conclusion:
70F with no climate control, 30-45 mph speeds, range is 96 miles.
50F with no climate control, range is 81 miles.
25F with moderate heat, range is 60 miles.
0F with no heat, range is 62 miles.
2F with heat set at 72F, range is 50+ miles (from recent test described below).

    ========

    Today I did another test.
The same circular ring road test of 16.1 miles.
Battery just completed full charge at beginning of test, so battery pack was warm.
    Temperature 1F to 4F.
    Distance 50+ miles.
    Average speed 44mph.
    Elapsed time 1hr 7min.
Heat in cabin set to 72F continuously. (Yes, I had heat).

    Nice post.
It seems your battery is in better state than mine, then.

I cannot pass 80 miles in any conditions...

One thing I would add - what affects the range greatly is the length of the commute. It is kind of same as with ICE car; however, here we deal with two things: mainly warming up the cabin and efficiency of the battery (when driving the battery gets a bit warmer).
I commute 10 miles one way. On a very cold day I use 20%, maybe even 25% when cold soak over the course of the day (10 F so far the coldest). Cabin temp is at or just below 70 F on Auto.
I can see drastic energy use for the initial few minutes (cabin warm up) and then it is kind of "OK".
One day I had much longer trip in cold weather and I used less battery than 20-25%/10 miles.

Now, when recharging - the ChargePoint app tells me it recharged 72 miles (max), that is 20 kWh or less on 0-100%.
Also, ChargePoint could be lying when charging cold battery as it takes about 2 kWh to warm up 45 F battery to 68 F.

I wonder what is yours... do you have any data?

I also have a Chargepoint charger.
I immediately recharged the car after the test since I had drained the battery to 0% and did not want to have any damage. So the battery was warm.
I charge at the 16 Amp rate. Charging started at 12:54pm. Charging stopped at 9:08pm. 24.83kWh added. 90 estimated miles added.

    Car has 28,600 miles.
