Lightbulb Shorter Shifter for an Automatic? Keep knocking out of drive getting my coffee

    Good day all!

Anyone know of a short (lower) shift handle for a 2015? I keep knocking mine out of drive reaching back from my coffee in the holder.

    Thanks!

No. I feel your pain though. The placement is great for the dualogic, manual, and the auto IF your manual shifting, but sucks for normal driving. My dad, and my mom have thrown the car into Neutral on numerous occasions. At one point my dad threw the car into Reverse on ACCIDENT, and it's still alive (AISIN POWER!). When i'm in the passenger seat and put my left leg up on my right leg so i'm comfortable my knee will throw the car into Manumatic mode (it should be driven like that anyways). The gear stick has no resistance to go to Manumatic but is so hard to put back into Drive. In my opinion it's smart and stupid. It's a lose lose situation.

The answer is no. No one offers a short automatic shifter. In 9 years, I’ve never had that issues. On any car. The automatic shifter moves North to South. Not sure how you could knock it out of a chosen gear.

The NA 500, doesn’t offer the Dualogic transmission.

I can't remember what it looks like, it is something you could dismantle and cut an inch or two off?

Its easy to knock the car in to different gear, especially when using the air-con. It may just be that were not used to it (I dont know how, its been 3 years), but we had the same problem on our old Prius that we leased 7 years ago which had the same placement as the FIAT for the shifter. If my parents just drove in manual all the time where you can't throw the car into the wrong gear it would be great. I'm afraid that the car will be thrown into Park, and kill the gearbox. It will just take more practice.

The problem is in treating the car as if it were a kitchen or a living room rather than a vehicle, although of course this is very common. Any idea of what happens in a accident when you're sitting with your legs crossed? Banging the controls while reaching for beverages? These are not problems with the vehicle design.

It takes practice to drive an automatic transmission? That’s a good one.
