    Cool Android radio upgrade

Hi guys, I found this unbranded 9 android radio for the X and bought it with hope to replace the original unit to add features without sacrificing buttons/usb ports. The radio came with all the wires/connectors necessary for the installation. The best part is that it is plug and play. I have no knowledge or experience on this matter, and I was able to do it.

I just installed it and I have to say that Im very excited. As mentioned before, its an android radio; its just like an android tablet. Heres a pic of the unit:

It really looks good and seems to work fine. All my steering wheel buttons work as well as the rear view camera whenever I put reverse. The usb underneath the climate control only charges, but I managed to keep the one inside the center console for CarPlay. Also, I can access all the car settings such as safety systems, etc.

the only thing I have to complain about is that there is a little static sound coming from the speakers, but its hard to hear it with music/road noise. Other than that, everythings ok. Forgot to mention that i didnt have to install an external microphone (also included) because the screen itself has the mic built-in; so I dont have anything hanging from the console or radio. It really looks great. I can explain more in detail if necessary. Leave your comments/concerns, and feel free to ask anything.

The static means something isn’t right. I’d be checking the ground for continuity or ground it somewhere else. Does it have Beats. If so it may be noise before the amplifier. I used to do it for a living and could not let a car go home with any noise or static.
I does look great. And I’m interested to hear what adaptors were used. But I’d definitely be tracking the static down to complete the install.

Yes, it does have beats. I guessed it’s got to do with ground, but I don’t know anything about it. I could take it to the shop down the street; I just don’t want to pay for something that could be ! We’ll see.

I have a Joying radio that I am installing with BEATS factory sub. Does your radio have a AMP-CONT wire? Where did you connect it?

Honestly, I did not have to do any connections and I didn’t want to as I don’t know anything about his. The system was sent to me ready to plug; all I had to do was remove the original unit and put this one in. Besides that, I didn’t have to do any electrical installation. I do have beats audio, and it sounds like it’s supposed to!

I found a pic from the seller. This is all I had to plug to the car.

The unit on the back has to USB ports; one for CarPlay and one for media in general. The adapter I used for the installation is this one. I plugged the original wire harness from the USB ports to the adapter; so the one below the AC controls is only good for charging.

And for the other USB port inside the center console, I ran a USB-USB mini cord from the radio to that USB port; I had to remove the panel below the steering wheel, And the plastic trim where the gear shifter and cup holders are.
I did not think in taking pictures to be honest, but feel free to ask anything.

The companies that make the "OEM Look" android radios for just about every brand out there cheaps out on the electronics, and that's why you have a static sound from the speakers. I had the radio for the regular 500 dash and it did the same thing.

There are some Chinese Android brands that don't have the bad audio/static issue, but they're not making the OEM lookalikes.

Could you please share a link to the radio you've bought? Looks like it's a "hit". Going through options from Aliexpress, but none of the sellers would elaborate if factory radio functions are retained. Thank you!

Yes, I will look it up. The unit is not perfect; it does have some defects like the static noise, which it could be annoying. But besides that, it is really awesome.
I had to remove it in order to take it to service; it has been almost three weeks and the unit is sitting in my room just like new. As much as I love carplay and how the radio integrates the settings and buttons, I do not think I will install it again; I could get the static noise fixed at a local audio shop, but it gets more expensive.

Please do post a link to the one you got. I’ve wanted something like this for my 2016 for...well 4 years lol but was too scared to lose the functionality.

Check out this product on Alibaba App IOKONE Wholesale 9" Touch Screen Car Multimedia Radio GPS WiFi For Fiat 500X 2015 2016 2017 2018 2019

Here is the link guys; when you open it, you’ll see the base price. Of course it’ll get more expensive depending on the ram, storage, and if you want HD or not. Once you contact the supplier, he’ll let you know what the options are. Very probable that you’ll talk to Alan; he’s responsible and will send pics before sending the stuff to you. I received the package in less than a week!
