I just check our Fiat studio, for new 500X inventory. They only have 3 2018 models left. No 2019. The next large city east of us. A least has 2 2019 500X’s. Really good discounts, of $7k.

The turbo accelerates quicker than the Abarth... shaving a full second off 0-60, per specs.

For sportiness, reviewers recommend the CX-3 or Kona. On acceleration, the CX-3 isn't quicker than the 2020 500X, but is more refined, they say.
The refinement knock against the 500X was mainly due to the engine mounts on early cars. Fiat changed them up to get rid of the vibration which some complained about and was the main issue.

The other strike against it was the transmission shift quality. There were numerous updates over time to address the issue, but unfortunately most of the reviews were done on the early cars and these reviews have been repeated all over the internet over and over again. These magazines and sites regurgitate the same old info without updating the review about the drivability enhancements and this misinformation then gets re-spewed all over social media by people, most of whom have never driven the car let alone sat in one..

How is the Fiat brand going to compete with the Jeep brand, or any other small crossover. Why does the public buy a Renegade, over a 500X. Both share the same architecture platform. When they introduced the 500X in 2016. Fiat advertisers the heck out of that car. I still remember the ground hog spot. Didnt help sales wise. I remember the Renegade theme song even better.

We will get here sometimes, 8-12 of snow. The snow road crew will have our roads cleared the next day. I once owned 2 Jeeps, they were kind of a waste. It was fun passing everyone, when we had a fresh new snow fall.
One of the problems when Fiat introduced the 500X there were 2300+ Jeep dealers compared to~ 200 Fiat dealers. There still is a huge desparity along those lines compared to Jeep and frankly all the rest of the competition except maybe MINI.

We discussed that here and here.

Now, technically there are something like 300 Fiat dealers, but as we all know, a lot are in name only and have little interest in promoting the cars. Such a waste.

There is something very strange about this pricing. Especially for a new model out of the box.

My local dealer has no 2019s. They said there were some production delays, FWIW.

People commute to the city and with all the mountains and hills, between a car with AWD and FWD, people pick AWD. You can see that in resale value of a CUV/SUV with only FWD in this area. I was a sales manager at a dealership and FWD versions are pretty much worthless compared to a comparable AWD car. The only way to sell a FWD SUV is to discount it substantially compared to an identical AWD SUV. For 90% of anyone buying a SUV, going with AWD in this area (likely any northern area with mountains) will pay if resale value is a concern.

Getting back to the car, I've just spent a week driving the new 500X and regardless of what some magazine says a 0-60 time is, the car is substantially peppier to drive in real world driving conditions. The extra torque and transmission performance compared to our old 500X is night and day. The transmission is seamless now, and no longer do you feel the different types of shift qualities depending on which gear you are going into and out of. The engine is definitely an upgrade in performance and driveability over the old one.

Des Moines Iowa. Billion Fiat/Alfa 250 miles north of Kansas City. Has 10 2019, 500X. Why so many in a smaller city?

    300 miles south of me. Only 2 2019 500X’s. Discounted $7K.

I find Fiat pricing confusing. There must be a lot of markup (for the dealer) on some models. Even in the same dealer chain, the pricing can vary by thousands. Locally the 2019 500X is discounted $2K. For an additional savings of $5500 to $7500, it might be worth taking a flight. Of course, I'd have to check how many hidden fees a dealer tacks on, first.

Last December I paid $1200 less than the local dealer's price, by purchasing 210 miles South (same dealer chain). 45 miles North, they sold for $5K more than my price. I thought it worth a one day road trip to save that much.

The dealer franchise system is such a joke.
