    Terrible smell when it rains

I've got a weird question for you. I have a Fiat 500e, and whenever I drive in the rain, there is a terrible smell in the cabin. After a day or so of no driving in the rain it goes away.
It smells like something dead, so does anyone know of any nooks and crannies in the 500 or 500e where a dead animal could get stuck and get wet when it rains?
It may be something else, so I'm open to other suggestions.

First, have you changed the cabin filter?

Yes there are plenty of locations a dead mouse can get in. You might wish to pull the heater fan and check behind (gloves on) for any critters. As I found out (when cleaning an old soda machine) a bit of water hydrates them and brings back the smell.

That's assuming it isn't mold trapped in the cabin air intake. On some cars the cowl drain will plug and mold can grow in the "box", though the 500's cowl intake collects less dirt/debris than most.

The smell could come from anywhere. If it was a dead animal mouse. You’d be smelling it all the time. Like Map mention, it might be mold.
Not sure it would be coming from the cabin filter. There no way water can get to it. I’d pull the windshield cowling off, look in there.

    Good luck finding it.

Is there anything that only happens when it rains? Because if it was mold in the HVAC system, you'd smell it whenever you turn AC or heater on, not only when it rains ...
