First rule of Italian car design: Italian car design (especially in the late '60s and on) sets the curve and seldom is derivative. Gandini and Giugaro championed the wedge shape back then and others, like the TR7/8 followed.

I have the original phone dial rims as well. The larger ones hit the front fender skirt in a tight turn. The car is in really nice shape for its age, and I happen to like white cars with black accents.
I have to thank this group again for leading me to the X1/9 forum and providing advice.
The people on the X1/9 forum really know their stuff. I am struggling just to keep up with the amount of info they share.

Congratulations on your car! Looks great. I had an white '87 just like the one you bought. I bought from the original owner. He just paid it off in 1992, but hadn't driven it in years after he hurt his back. Had that car for 26 years. Miss it! Enjoy your car and don't forget to stop by here and keep us in the loop about it.

I have finally gotten the car registered after months of a DMV shutdown. What a fun little car it is. I have only put a few hundred miles on it at this point.
I have not had an open top car in many years and forgot about the chassis flex. It is not too bad but noticeable. The handling is great and the low hp requires some planning to get out of the turn quickly. I like that part of driving.
Since it is mostly original I am not planning any significant modifications.
