    Battery Relocation

If anyone has relocated the battery to the back of the car ,can you tell me how the cables were routed ? I'm going to move mine and thought that makers of the kits would know the easiest way.

I installed an Odyssey Battery inside the cabin, behind the passenger seat.
The Positive/ Hot Wire Cable is routed through the firewall, through the cabin.
The Negative/ Ground Cable is right off the batter terminal, grounded to the chassis/ roll bar.

You need to be real careful about the mechanical attachment of the battery to something sturdy. You don't want that thing bouncing around in the cabin in the event of a crash. It will kill somebody.

VW had this problem with the Beetle in the early days.

It will be sealed up in a plastic ammo box and attached maybe to my roll bar or seat platform. The battery and box weight 5 pounds together.

Typical maintenance schedule... prior to driving the car, or a race event, you check the battery terminals are snug and tight.

Battery and box weigh 5 pounds? Lithium? Might not take the heat of the car interior, depending on where you live.

When they talk about a child left in a hot car on the news they usually say the inside temps can reach 135 degrees. I took the car out on a 92 degree night ( I'm in Oklahoma ) and when I got home I shot the under the hood temps around the battery. The area of the battery nearest the motor was 140 degrees. Returning home from a 60 mile drive on a 105 degree day a few weeks back the battery went dead while driving around a gas station. The battery manufactorer thought it might have got hot. Once I hit the reset, it was at 13.7 volts. I drove Twisted Sisters in June of 2018 without any problems. Once the car is started it will be cooler than under the hood.

I don't have any problems with the interior summer heat... just the freezing temps during the winter months.
During January/ February I actually keep an small fan powered electric heater in the cabin overnight.

I usually switch back to the lead-acid battery when the weather gets cold. I'm in north central Oklahoma and our winters get down below zero sometimes and our summers as high as 115 degrees. I never had any problems until this summer and it was only 92 that day. Now that the battery is inside the car, I wonder if I put it in a small cooler for the winter would it work all winter all. The car stays in a heated garage when I'm at home.
