2020 Fiat 500 Star vs Rockstar

Its in German. Easy to understand still. 69/85 hp twin air engines. Love the European 500 styling. Looks like the platform isnt changing for the 2020 year.

It's interesting what a couple pieces of trim will do. I think the pink would sell well in the US, especially on the standard Pop.

Like the satin-finish paint job on the "Rockstar" version, but not sure how one would maintain it.

I don't know; he danced around sales by saying sales were up 'outside of the market', which in this case I assume is Italy. Sales sure aren't up here in the US!

Honestly, I'm not sure trying some different paint schemes, bigger screen and connectivity options are enough to refresh the car after what, roughly 15 years of the same vehicle? To me they're just having some designers putting lipstick on an old friendly pig. The cheap way out.

The 500 is a sales phenomenon in Europe. They've had record sales in Europe in 2018, 11 years after its introduction, which is unprecedented in modern times for such an older design, plus sales are up for at least the first part of this year. Whatever they are doing in Europe - all the special editions, trim etc. works without question. When the new 500 arrives next year, they will still sell the 'classic' 500 alongside it. The car is considered that much of a design icon.

Yep... just an update, but one that should sell well. It's rated at over 38 US MPG (or +10 on the old rating scale) with the .9L engine and 6 speed tranny. Mostly, it gives buyers a chance to save fuel while adding the upscale "Sport" trim levels. With their high gas, tax, fee and insurance costs, it should be wildly popular.

The mat finish should not be any more difficult to maintain. The coat should be as smooth as the shiny finish.

The 11 year old 500 in Europe, is the top selling city car. Over the smart car, Opel Adam, VW Up, Mini, etc. Fiat made a effort there, to update the colors, styling, equipment, audio, lighting, interior, engines, etc. 2018, Fiat sold close to 188,500 European 500’s. Same for 2017.

The issue with Matt paint finishes. If you scratch it, bird poop, bug stain. You can’t polish out the imperfections. It will make the Matt finish shiny, where you have rubbed.

Man, I would love to have that car here now. I don't want the trim or the paint but I want the engine and 58 mpg!

Also I hate that computer screen in the middle.

    Who needs it!

I wish NA Fiat would offer, that 7” sound system info screen in the 500. Apple Car play, and Android Auto. My Nephew said the same thing about his 2018 Abarth. I wouldn’t need the Fiat navigation. Just use the Apple maps, though the USB. Fiat here is so behind, here. It would generate more of the youth population, to the brand.

That's true, you can't use rubbing compound or traditional wax on matte finishes... can't even take it thru most car washes. There are special products available for it. They won't help with scratches, but take care of streaks and (supposedly) do a decent job at cleaning up most blemishes that we use rubbing compound on. It works as a wax in protecting the finish... as well as spray on waxes.

I used some of that to "shine up" a matte finish on the rocker panels of a friend's car. (Following using tar remover.) It took a lot of rubbing but came back and hid some minor scratches. It's rather like using Windex and it removed the wax applied by the car wash. I wouldn't want matte, too much work, but it does look pretty. I'd love to see one of those Fiat paint jobs in real life. I'm guessing it could be a semi-gloss finish.
