Question Considering purchasing 2014 Fiat 500L Trekk w/ manual transmission ... 98,000 miles

Love the European style of the 2014 500L Trekk!
I am looking at one loaded with everything except leather seats and it is GORGEOUS! Sounds like there are major problems with the dual automatic transmission, but I am having a hard time finding out about the manual transmission, which I am seriously considering and the fact it has almost 100,000 miles on it. The dealer is giving me a great price, but I am also taking a loan out and can not afford repair problems on top of it. For me, I need a reliable car with low maintenance. Is this a possibility with this year car or are most Fiats in the repair shop and better to go to a different manufacturer like the Hyundai?
Please help, I really need to make a decision today. I live in Seattle WA and will have to get a ride to Beaverton Oregon, 200 miles away to test drive and purchase ... or not.
So I am trying to find out your opinions as whether to make the trip or not .. single mom with disability issues so I can not afford a mistake on a car purchase.

I hope I'm not too late. Personally, I would not purchase the Fiat in your case. The Fiat is a well built vehicle, but if anything goes wrong ... no one knows how to work on them and dealerships are few and far between. The dealership would also be where you buy most parts, and that can get expensive.

The best thing would be to get a Toyota or a Hyundai. They are very conservative in their technology and mechanicals. They are easy to work on, and parts support is there if anything does go wrong. If you're in a budget, you can get one a year or two older for a similar price to the Fiat. The car you're looking at is due for a timing belt change and that alone is going to cost you hundreds of dollars also.
