    Hesitation on Acceleration

    Hello proud Fiat owners!

I have two Fiat 500. 2013 Sport and 2013 POP. The POP model has an hesitation on the gas when starting from stop. All the others I drove have not that issue. Any suggestions? Thank you!

How many miles on the Pop? Could be the spark plugs- the maintenance schedule calls for them to be changed every 32,000 miles. Much beyond that engine performance starts to deteriorate and way beyond that it could prove fatal. A tech showed me a head off a 500L where the owner ignored the plug change interval (the same 32,000 miles iirc) and at about 50,000 miles an spark plug electrode broke off in one of the cylinders and trashed the head.

Another thing to check out is fuel. If you're running 87 octane try going to a higher octane number and/or a different brand. My previous '13 500 Sport ran ok on 87 octane but was much happier on 91 octane ethanol free fuel ... 1 to 2 mpg better and a little more go when you pressed the pedal. If the car has been in storage, get fresh fuel in it asap.

One other thing to check is your air box/air filter .... mice had built a nest in mine (and this was was a daily driver mind you) which was why it wasn't running quite right.

Check the simple stuff first and if that doesn't help maybe a trip to the dealer is in order if for no other reason than to make sure all your software is up to date.

Thank you all! I put gasoline with more octane and changed spark plugs. The hesitation disappeared!
