    Battery Replacement

Does anyone have a repair manual to verify the recommended way to preserve the current settings when replacing the battery? I'm concerned about having to re-enter the radio's security code as well as the transmission having to "re-learn". Thanks guys.

My approach would be to connect a battery charger to the terminals BEFORE you disconnect them from the posts. Since there is a load between them, voltage will be controlled. Or you can use another battery connected to the chassis and to the positive terminal...

I am not sure what will be cleared when you disconnect the battery. I have very bad luck with the audio system retaining settings as it does not even remember when it is off. It randomly turns on...

I found this while searching - - > https://www.carcarekiosk.com/video/2...eplace_battery . The 5th video mentioned a battery tender. Is that the same as a charger? The possibility of locking up the radio is making me very apprehensive.

This device will do the trick. Just be sure to turn off your interior lights (if you leave the doors open), as the little 9v battery drains quickly that way.

You can hook up a battery charger, but it has to be a "dumb" one. Most smart battery charger or maintainer these days will sense any existing battery connection and output accordingly. If there is no battery detected, they may not output any voltage.

When I disconnected my battery for 15 minutes the only thing that happened was a loss of radio presets. I didn't notice any other change.

Did you disconnect both terminals or just one, or will that even matter? Thanks.

    What year?

I've disconnected the battery several times on our 2016. No problems.

Never had a issue, with disconnecting /replacing the vehicle battery. No such thing loosing the transmission memory.
