12 month, FREE Sirius XM Trial - odd situation, anyone else experienced this?

I bought my 2017 500 Abarth used. It was exactly one year old in March of this year. The previous owner NEVER did anything with Sirius, as he barely drove the car. He claims he didn't call to activate it, etc.
Question - is there any way that I, as the second owner, could beg forgiveness somehow on Sirius and convince them to activate the FREE, 12 month trial which came with the car?

Here's what I don't know - how does the trial work? It says over on Sirius site that it should be FREE when you drive off the lot, but is that true, or is there some human involvement by the owner needed, aka you have to call and give your radio #, or likewise.

I'd love to try the freebie if the previous owner never did....

When I purchased my 2017 500c last May, I noticed it had the 1 year free Sirius/XM. When I called to activate it they told me it was only for 3 months. I told them I was the 1st titled owner and I wanted a year. After some discussion, I asked to speak to a Supervisor. She asked me if I had any proof I was the 1st owner and I told her I had a photo of the Odometer with 75 miles on it. I emailed it to her while I had her on the phone and after about 5 minutes she came back and honored the 1 year deal. This month when it came up to renew, they wanted $90.00 for six months of music only. I went round and round with them and kept refusing their deals, threatening to cancel until they gave me a deal of 1 year for $72.00 music only. You just have to be persistent with them.

It can't hurt to try, but I doubt they will give the 2nd owner the deal.

Good luck, let me know how you make out.

I was hoping the same, but 6 months to the day it switched to their "buy me" channel. I'm the third owner of this '16 500x easy, so I guess I can't complain.
(off lease, bought off a Fiat lot..)
