Stuff you hear when people see you drive a 500 Abarth

    My top 5:

    1. Man, that thing must get great gas mileage (yep, I squeeze about 28 MPG if i'm careful )
    2. HOW DO YOU FIT IN THAT!? (I'm 6'6")
    3. Well my zxy had one back in 19xx and it was ...
    4. Oh cool, is that the Abarth version, those sound awesome! (from the occasional enthusiast)
    5. You know what fiat stands for? FIX IT AGEGEUBGNKG TONYYJKGN I swear if I hear that one more time

My slight pet peeve... "ay-bart" vs "ah-bart"

Love the list. I read #5 in Mr.Regular's voice. =P

I'm usually tickled pink when people say anything other than "uhh-bartHhhh" *gags a little*

"It's Italian, if you end up spitting on me you're not saying it right, you must be thinking of German!"

I’ve also heard “half car”. So, a Smart Car is a “quarter car”?

Problem is that Carlo was born in Austria, lol. I know actual Italians that say it "Ah-barth". But of course this debate is as old as Fiat itself.

A Miata driver parked beside me at the gas station the other day took a long look at my 500 Abarth and said "I like that car...."
    Small moves...

Was out reviewing new cars for my daughter yesterday. Pulled into the Hyundai dealer and the salesman asked if I was there to buy a smaller car.

I overheard a couple guys in the H-E-B parking lot chitter, "that's a badass little car" to one another.

I've never had anyone strike up comments or conversations with me in public though in the Abarth. I expected to hear more, "that girl drives something on bewwst!" type stuff. It definitely more low-key than when you step out of a '97 turbo Supra.

But given the fact that he changed his name to sound a bit more Italian, I suspect he would be OK with my sass. =P

I'm about due for another deep dive into Abarth history. Fun stuff.

People ask me what it is. Also, my car is far from slammed, and a lot of people at gas stations comment about how low it is. Just vogtland springs on koni.
