    P0236 = new turbo?

    G'day, My 500X 1.4 Pop has thrown a CEL up and using a Bluetooth reader I can see it's a "P0236 Turbocharger Boost Sensor A Range/Performance". I took it to the dealer as it was still a few weeks before the warranty ran out and they just cleared the code and said see if it comes back. The CEL didn't come back but there is several pending P0236 instances stored and the boost was being limited and the cruise control stopped working. They diagnosed it as a faulty boost pressure sensor (had to wait 8 weeks for it to come from Italy) and replaced it and cleared the pending fault again. Within 20km of driving the boost was limited again and cruise control stopped working. So I took it back the next day and they now say there is a TSB for this problem that requires a new turbo and another 6-8 week wait for it to come from the USA.

    Has anyone else had this problem or a turbo replaced? I don't see how replacing the turbo will fix it as its a sensor problem?

    Thanks.

    I will not argue that they are wrong, but computer limiting boost is not really a symptom of failing turbo.
    Besides, while turbos do not last forever, they are quite robust.

    What I hate about codes and computers - by reading a code, one jump to a conclusion without actually doing basic checks.

    I agree, the turbo itself is a robust part, but it seems that a "turbo" includes the wastgate and blowoff valve hardware also, which is where I suspect the problem is?

    So as I said - go step by step with basic checks. Maybe a solenoid for wastegate is faulty?
