    That said...

If I was doing a build where the target is longevity and quality; I would stay away from eBay.

i feel ya on that. I’m looking to just test it out and see how I like the sound and see the difference of catted to de-cat without having to spend a lot and not like it.

I wouldn't worry about the welds on a piece of pipe from Ebay. I've seen quite a few ebay exhaust pieces up close. They take some shortcuts in constructing that youd find at a low end exhaust shop, but its decent stuff and a low stress part. Is the fiat engineers felt a bellow wasnt required, I dont think your gonna have much stress on its 2 joints on am aftermarket. I've always believed in following oem design direction. If they add a part or feature that ismt emissions or noise related, its important.

Sometimes you get a decent piece but it’s a lottery. Appearance of a weld means little in terms of the longevity of a weld. The amount of heat coming out of the back half of a turbo is not really indicative of low stress either. Yes a cat less pipe won’t trap the heat like a catted pipe but it’s still “glow red hot” at times. Still, if it’s a temporary part as OP said and it’s just to establish volume, no big deal. Also really not a huge deal if it does brake. It’s cheap and easy to swap out.

I mean low stress as far as movment. A tig weld can take more heat than the pipe. And like I've said, I've had many ebay pipes in my hands, cut them up, modified etc. I have a pretty good idea of standard Chinese part weld penetration and dont mind using ebay exhaust pieces on my own cars.

Fair and perfect for cutting up into experimental parts. I’ve held a lot too and seen enough broken ones to not want to risk it long term. I say long term because it’s always over time that they fall apart. I still wouldn’t put one in a car that I love. A throw around car I didn’t care about? Hell yes I’d buy 5 #twothumbsup

Fair enough. I had a ebay downpipe on a 400+ hp rotary track car that saw 850 to 900 degree Celsius exhaust temps the entire time engine was running for about 12 years with no issue. It a hades a few different lengths and flanges on the body side, but 4 inch vband weld at turbo never changed.

It’s not like that says much for the 13B or the welds lol
