Sunroof or Cabrio road noise - which is louder?

After searching I couldnt find a definitive answer. Anyone care to chime in on which they think is louder with regards to wind and road noise (when closed), the sunroof or Cabrio option. I could live with either, but prefer a sunroof, as I wouldnt drive with it open that often.

hi there. well sense tells me its got to be quieter having a car with a sunroof, because no matter how open it is when you drive it, its never going to be as open as a cabriolet
im looking and researching possible purchases & have briefly considered a cabriolet abarth....but soon realized i would never put the top down lol. just not my thing

I absolutely Love my Cabrio. I drive with the top down anytime I can, cold weather and all, heat cranking of course.
It is noisy with the top down on the highway for sure. But, I like to just cruise around town with it down most of the time.

Thanks, I love the idea of the Cabrio as well, but the question is how noisy is it with the top closed. Or, which is noisier when closed, sunroof or Cabrio, compared to a regular roof.

Top closed it's not that bad at all to me. As far as comparing it to the sunroof or hard top, I don't know. Never rode in either one before.

OK, thanks. Have you ever had the need to put a roof rack over the Cabrio?

Had a 500 Sport and an Abarth with sunroof. I hear more noise in my new Cabrio than either of those. But I wouldnt rule out a Cabrio just for the amount of noise I hear. I love dropping the top just like when I had the sunroof cars and would always have the sunroofs open

No, I haven't had the need. I read the other day someone tried to put a roof rack on the Cabrio but, the roof hit it when opening.

I'll chime in and say that my Cabrio Abarth is quieter than the 1998 Ford Contour it replaced, for whatever that's worth! Chances are the exhaust is louder than any cabin noise you'll hear. The 500C abarth is an excellent USED car value if you're looking for max fun IMO as it doesn't really demand much more money than hardtops. If I found myself needing a roofrack, I'd just install the curt hitch:
