    Fiat brand sales for January 2019 totaled 751 units, a 39 percent decline compared to the same month last year. This is the lowest overall sales figure recorded since March 2011, which was when the brand only had one model and was only on sale for its first month here in the US.

    I used to work in TV. It’s amazing - the ratings for programs always went up when we RAN BLOODY PROMOS for that show. Haven’t seen a FIAT Abarth commercial in years. It’s so sad - all that wonderful work, effort and love that Sergio Marchionne brought back to the brand, gone. Over some pickup trucks. America - where cool car ideas go to die....

    I think the Abarth could have been a wildly popular car, we all know how how much fun it is. You have to reach the people somehow, get em in to drive one. Advertise them. Have great service for them. Special themed paint jobs, etc. HATE seeing them die like this.

    When Fiat did advertise...some of the commercials were "cute", but others were just plain dumb. If I had seen those GIF commercials prior to buying Lil Blue...probably wouldn't have even stopped at the dealership. At least this commercial hinted at it's heritage:



    Though the 500 is a good 1st timer cheap entry car for younger people...when they start families...they may stay with Fiat...but move onto something bigger....but it's also a good vehicle for us empty nesters. Don't need as much space...easy to park...and sits higher so easy to get in and out of. Isn't that why the Kia Soul (I think it was) sold a lot to older folks even though it was geared to younger ones? It was like they handed over the advertising department to a bunch of tweens...who got "bored" quickly and moved on. Doesn't help the only "product placement" in the movies was a rather large guy singing opera in a 500 slowing down James Bond from running from one of his many villains (I was really hoping when I 1st heard a Fiat was going to be in a Bond movie...he would be driving one the way it was meant to be driven...and when the top came down...a machine gun or something came out...but nooooo). They really should have advertised showing these cars on twisty mountain roads where they're most at home.

    Here's hoping they will keep the FIAT brand here alive as a hedge against future high fuel prices. A lesson they learned in 2009/10.

    Every manufacturer seems to be in revamp mode right now. Their studies are on SUV and trucks which that is what the market is right now. That's where the money is for them. The only one of the US manufacturers is FCA where I really haven't seen them make a comment like the other 2 that are going to SUV and trucks only with one small car left in their line ups. So I guess we will see because the passenger car market is going to the Asian cars mainly now I guess. All I do is dealer transfers now since I retired from the 9-5 daily grind. In Oct- Dec 31st I couldn't move cars fast enough and I drive for several different dealers and types of car lines. In January I never moved or went and got a single car. So I think by that and the way the market is right now it's just slowed to seems almost nothing. Don't think the other manufacturers had a very good month either.

    That's how they got my interest - by making the two Abarth's avialable for test drives at the local, yearly auto show. Got a $10 Amazon gift card as well! We took the 500A auto out for a spin, and have been looking for a good deal on one ever since

    that would be an idea, but they dont sell anything here that gets good mileage. almost all midsized vehicles do better than even the tiny 500.

    I'd say that FCA hasn't recently closed plants or stated they are shifting away from cars because they were way ahead of Ford and Chevy when they stopped the Dart and Chrysler 200 before the other makers. Ideally FIAT worldwide sales would allow them to keep selling here, and FIAT would be FCA's small cars for north America, but with such low sales, who knows? Americans buy trucks and SUVs, so thank goodness in the big picture that Ram and Jeep are part of the company.
