2017 Fiat 500x Trekking owned 3 days broken at the dealer going on 3 days

    Hi all,
Im new here to Fiat. On 01/17/2019 I purchased a new 2017 Fiat 500x Trekking awd with 91 miles on the odometer. It’s my first Fiat ever, I tested a bunch of different manafactures vehicles and settled on the Fiat. After 3 days ( I live in the frozen tundra of upstate N.Y.) I remote started my 500x to warm up and went to drive it and low and behold NO HEAT THE FAN WOULD NOT TURN ON.I stupidly drove the car to the dealership barely being able to see out of the front windshield and explained to them the problem. I waited two hours for them to tell me they have to order a part, it won’t be in until tomorrow! Of course it’s always tomorrow,so I wait till the next day go down to the dealer they say the parts in but the technician is going over everything to make sure it’s right, it probably won’t be ready till tomorrow. Me being me I ask more questions because I know they are trying to BS me and guess what? It’s is not the part they replaced they have to order another part, guess what tomorrow tomorrow tomorrow. So my 3 day old car is been in the shop 3 days, what’s today going to bring ? Tomorrow. Not a good showing for a first time Fiat buyer. I’m so frustrated any suggestions? The dealership gave me a rental with their name plastered all over it, so I kind of look stupid driving their car around. I think I would be less mad/frustrated if they just gave me another 500 to drive while mine is being fixed. I used the analogy, if I purchased a $80,000 Dodge Hellcat and it broke down would I want to drive a driving billboard? Sorry for the long read.

    Cheers Paul.

That does sound like a lousy experience; but don't fret over the loaner car...you'll have yours back in a jiffy.
I WOULD check the "in service" date on a vehicle that had enough miles on it to have been a demo/exec ride for a short period. Make sure the dealer didn't show the "in service" date way back in '17. Could be a potential warranty snafu.
Hang in there and Good Luck!!!

Suggestion? Just hang in there. Sometimes a new car will have a glitch or two that needs to be ironed out. They gave you a loaner car and they are working on it. There are two roads to go down. One is complain about everything and make yourself and the situation miserable. The other is to roll with it and see what happens. Good luck and I'm sure you'll be on the road soon and this will just be a soon forgotten bump on the road.

One thing I noticed you mentioned you did the remote start. Did you press the starter button when you got in? That activates all the components like heat.

Welcome to the forum, sorry to hear about the problem. They definitely need to make it right under warranty I'd say. At least you have a loaner car, some dealers don't even do that.

Thanks all for the advice. I got my car back today 01/25/2019 the car is working as it should as of now, the service manager and technician I don’t think it’s fully fixed because the service manager gave me a number to call if I have any more trouble and have it towed directly to them ( not the nearest dealer which is what they would do) even at their expense if I should be a distance away. I was happy to get the car back but have reservations about it being 100%. They also replaced the hearted seat and steering wheel buttons because “ they felt the buttons were sticking, and wiper blades. After I got home my cousin who works in the insurance there called and said because I did not give 10 s on the fiat survey e mail I received she would not get her &100.00 for recommending to purchase the car there. To me that’s pretty unethical since she had nothing to do with the break down of the car and my honesty... again thanks all.
          Cheers Paul

I don’t that is the case since it had 80 miles on it, but how do you check the in service date?

The paperwork on the repair might show the in-service date...Volvo does that on every invoice...I haven't checked on our FIATs. Otherwise, the dealer can tell you(or the service advisor).

Like CoachRick posted usually each repair order when written up usually has the in service date on it.
