The Future of the 124 may be in question

I keep scanning for FIAT news hoping to find a nugget of good news. But it always seems to be just the opposite. Below is a link to an article about the future of the 124. Read for yourself to try and figure out what is being said between the lines. I hope they are not about to drop the 1.4 and go to the 1.3 even for the Abarth. That to me just seems they are going in the wrong direction. If they are going to update the motors in all FIATS then the Abarth you would think would get a bigger motor. Just go ahead and drop a HEMI in it.

It may be that pollution laws are the reason to kill off JUST the base model in the U.K., correct? I remember watching Richard Hammond give it a rave review - you’d think that would help matters:

The new FireFly series of motors are better set up to meet the new stringent emission standards. The bureaucrats and politicians are ultimately looking to ban the ICE. If you don't want that to happen, we need to make our voices heard.

If you want to get a bigger engine for 124, just get the LS conversion from Flyin Miata
