I'm about a hour from Hallett Motor Racing Circuit. My wife is encouraging me to take my car to the track. It is my daily and I don't want to ruin it on the track. On the other hand, I totally want to ruin it on a track. I think it's time for a 3rd car.

I was just thinking that. Cool little design detail. I've got to stay off BaT if I'm going to get any work done today. That's a "20-minutes to quittin time" sort of website, because nothing productive happens once you start browsing. =]

    Morning all!

My commute home last night was fun. Rode with another minibike for a few miles and chatted up a cool dude on a Valentino Rossi Special Edition Aprilla SR50.

(Yes, they sold them like that from the factory... Groovy!)

I used to never wave at scooters or trikes, but riding the minibikes has taught me that it doesn't do anyone any good to have a superiority complex. Motorcyclists are a dying breed so you might as well be friendly to all 2-wheeled brethren. I've been really impressed with how many shaggy bagger Harley riders give me a wave on my pit bike. ʕʘ‿ʘʔ

bikes jeeps, and miatas are the only modes of transport where you are required to wave to one another via an unwritten law

People look at my sister in law weird when she waves from her Feep!

Modern Jeeps are too refined. With no sacrifice there can be no brotherhood. Only Wranglers wave now, and even then the Wrangler has bloated to the point of being a full sized SUV competitor. Great for Jeep, but dang is it rare to see a short wheelbase Wrangler these days.

Same thing with Minis. The Gen 1 guys complain that nobody waves, but they refuse to wave at the highest selling model, the Countryman.

I think it goes deeper than that however. In general cars are just too insular now. Nobody is taking in the sights or looking for similar vehicles, they are too busy making calls, texts, listening to podcasts, only spending the minimal amount of effort and brainpower necessary to get to their destination safely. (sometimes not even that)

I used to be opposed to level 5 autonomy, now it can't come soon enough.

Today in oddball Italian engineering: the Nembo 32.

Super cool, don't know how I've never stumbled across this weirdo.
