I'm sure it adds obscene cost... but I love VWs entirely hidden camera. (It hides under the giant central VW emblem and pops out when needed) It sucks that we are even having the conversation of which sporty roadster's back-up cam implementation is better.

Even though it has been deemed necessary by the gov it's still an exterior feature that is in use a very small percentage of the time. Design around it... don't just slap it on. This is why mass market cars don't use hood pins...

Yuh I like how vw hid theirs it's also neat how it only comes out when in use. you wont see it when you're just opening the trunk/hatch.

you know all this talk about backup cams and I don't think I've seen the new 500s backup cam

So what's everyone think about Mazda teasing the enthusiasts with the whole "We're considering bringing back the Speed3 but we need to hear from potential buyers first" story?

So what do we need to do? Send letters to Mazda en masse? Hire Chinese clickfarms to up the hit level of these rumor mill articles?

It's BS if you ask me. We have a better chance of seeing another RX. Don't get me wrong, I'd be tickled if they did it, might even buy one, but it's never gonna happen.

well they did give us a diesel CX-5 about 9 years after we all wanted one....soo.......

they really do need to make a 2.5T AWD hatch/sedan mazdaspeed, heck even give us a 'speed' cx5 la nissan juke nismo
also japan will soon have a dorito powered hybrid

onlyway doritos will happen is if it's a halo car like the NSX

I feel like we all toyed around with the idea of lowering and turboing a CX-3. Now we have an AWD 3 and it's apparently a really good platform to start with. Just add forced induction... How cool would it be if they made a sporty Skyactiv-X? It already has a supercharger and overbuilt engine. Plus then you can go back into SCCI mode for freeway cruising and get killer mileage.

NO... I do not support pretend sporty CUVs (despite owning one... don't judge me!)

Is the JP rotary hybrid a true hybrid or a "hybrid" like the Volt? I thought it was just going to be a generator. I'm obviously behind the times though.

I think a Rotary Halo makes perfect sense TBH. Shows off the heritage and sells in low enough numbers to not murder their fleet efficiency. The RX-9 Vision concept or whatever from years ago certainly didn't strike me as an affordable car.

I think my biggest issue with a potential gen3 Speed3 is that there is roughly a 1% chance it would offer a manual option. It might sound stupid, but that's a deal breaker for me.

Also didn't they JUST put a turbo in the gasoline CX-5? Thus negating the need for more torque in the platform? I don't envision a ton of diesel sales, though maybe they can grab some buyers with the combination of "Good styling, good towing capacity, not an Audi".

if the cx-3 came in stick and awd I'd be rockin that instead of my abarth.

the dorito would just be the power source for the gen set. it makes sense tho. small/compact yet can be efficient at a set rpm.

I don't ask for much give me a stick shift ~400 combined wheel buff horses, amazing handling, and sexy looks

yeah I think they just gave us the turboed engines for 2019 the diesel needs to be bigger than a 2.2L
"The engine's 168 horsepower and 290 lb-ft of torque fall short of the optional turbocharged 2.5-liter inline-four in the gasoline-engined CX-5, which makes 250 hp and 310 lb-ft."
