    Disabling cellular modem

I bought a 500e 2 weeks ago and have been gratefully absorbing all the information on here. I noticed pretty quickly that the Fiat Access app doesn't work and it appears it never will based on the information here. As I understand it, there's a cellular modem on the car but FIAT will only support service for 3 years, rendering it useless after that. Have I got that right?

In that case, is it possible to disable the cellular modem? I'd prefer to turn it off if it's not doing anything.

    Thanks in advance...

BTW, I just tried calling FIAT Customer Care to ask about the FIAT Access application. An automated system routed me to a "non-working number at FCA." I suppose this means the service is officially dead.

The service still works for 500e that are within the 3 year period. I have a leased 2017 and it works on both Fiat Access and UConnect Access phone applications. It's more likely that they changed phone numbers and didn't update their automated system. After I turned in my previous lease (2015 model), I continued to receive updates in the app, and this was the number (in the Fiat Access terms of services) that I called to disconnect my account: 1-855-261-5364

Nobody seems know what happens on the car after 3 years. The VIN is certainly disabled on the FCA server. You can see the Fiat Access status if you login to the Mopar website and register the VIN. However it isn't clear what happens at the car its SIM card might be disabled and it no longer send information over cellular, or else it still transmits but the server ignores the data because of 3 year expiration based on VIN.

Thanks much! That's the phone number I called. Hitting Option 2 (for FIAT Access) rang an extension, something picked up, but nobody was there. Hitting Option 3 (for 500e) rang an extension and gave that message about a non-working number at FCA.

I was hoping to ask about using the service or turning off the cell system. I'm guessing that it's acting like a cell phone with no subscription, which is to say that it's broadcasting to cell towers but isn't allowed to connect because there's no valid service. I know that's not a HUGE deal but I'm a computer security guy, which means I wear a small tin foil hat. I'm not as crazy as some, but I'd prefer to not broadcast that signal if it's not being used.

Regarding the app itself, I take it you were able to run it? The thing crashes on my iPhone every time I try running it.

Fiat Access and Uconnect work on Android.

I haven't run it on iOS in a long time. Fiat Access used to work but I tried it now and it quits immediately. I installed the newer Uconnect app and it works.

I successfully called in late 2017 and had uconnect remove the previous owners from the car. That's as far as I wanted to take it because as far as I know the actual telematics unit is buried deep in the dash and would require major work to remove. I think the fuse is F36 but that disables a ton of stuff along with the TCU.
