Wastegate solenoid eh? You know what, when my boost drops at 3100 rpm it may be the wastegate doing it because the exhaust note changes very slightly (waste gate opens, exhaust gases reroute and sound changes).

Wastegate solenoid assembly, technically. You can see all the possible leak points on the photos on the linked thread, they were very hard to see, they didn’t jump right out at ya, but obviously were there the whole time, really caused a bunch of issues. Basically after the dealer failed to diagnose correctly, multiple times, we started with the obvious, upgraded the plugs, coils and the dv, didn’t solve the issues, then replaced the leak prone oem twin intercooler design, obviously it still acted up, finally researched/noticed the wastegate solenoid assembly, replaced with new oem unit and car has been flawless since.

I lucked out, my brother in law spent all the time, money, effort and headaches dealing with it and I reaped the benefits as the car has been solid under my ownership (4-5 months) and his after the fix, with a bunch of cool/expensive bolt ons to boot, I did delete the rear seats and add a sticker on my dime

It ran a 14.8 at 90.8 mph last month compared to 15.8 stock, so not only did he fix the drivability problem but the bolt ons and tuning made a noticeable performance improvement!

Hi everyone. So a bit of a revelation - what actually appears to be happening is the THROTTLE is closing significantly around 3100 rpms.

I was looking at the torque app and noticed that if I had the accelerator at 50% the throttle would go WOT until 3100rpms where it would close to around 25% with no modulation of the accelerator. This is repeatable in every gear, sport or economy mode.

What is causing the ecu to close the throttle even though the accelerator pedal is staying at 50%?

Finally got around to making a video of this. Leaning towards this being part of the factory tune on the car. Maybe for fuel economy? It's barely noticeable without the piggyback.

As you will see in the video, the throttle closes significantly even though my foot is consistently on the pedal.

The multi air system controls air intake morseo than the throttle plate does, or along with it, and throttle plate position is not the sole factor in regulating air volume going into the cylinders. I think it is the engine switching “cam profiles” (5 of them, aren’t there?) via the m/a system and moving to a cruise/economy state. Does applying heavier throttle keep it from closing at that point?

Hi streetsurfer, yes if I give it full throttle this does not happen.
