On our anniversary last Saturday (or my celebration of another year has gone by and she hasn't smothered me in my sleep to make my untimely demise look like an accident) we took our latest bambino for a drive through the Flint Hills Kansas. 1st off...the gentleman who's doing the work added a toggle switch so I can turn the radiator fan on myself. It slowed the wanting to over heat issue...but still wants to get up to the red at idle (stop lights)and low speeds (around 25 mph)...but once moving...and you get that air flow over the engine...it drops back to normal fairly quickly.
Any how....We took the back way to Lawrence...and through the city...and the back way (40 hwy) to Topeka, on I-70 for a few miles to 4 west to Alma, KS, then old K10 rd sw to work our way to Council Grove, late lunch at The Hays House before heading home on old 56 hwy. One of favorite leisurely drives...and except for driving through Lawrence...and it wanting to heat up at stop lights....it did really well. Nice sunny day...got up to low 70's. It was a good day.
I've (we) have put 2k on the car since we got it back in August...weekend drives...everything from cruising to just running errands. Can't tell which I prefer driving..this or the Abarth Cabrio. The Abarth is fun for "playing on the curves"...but think I prefer the Spider more for scenic, lazy drives..but still offers some fun when you hit some twisties. We'll figure out the overheating "gremlin" eventually...but for now it's just something to keep an eye on.
