    Exclamation Oil catch can questions

Hi everybody, quick question, has somebody here installed an oil catch can on an Abarth? If you did can I see a picture of the set up? The thing is that I'm concerned about too much oil getting into the intake manifold leading to intake manifold pressure sensor failure, I just want to clean the process a little bit more by adding an oil catch can on the PCV to Intake manifold section instead of the PCV to intake pipe section. The thing is all the setups I have seen are from the PCV to the intake pipe section and working on the car I noticed that the sensor on the intake system before the throttle is clean so I don't think that side is the main source of the excess of oil I found on the MAP sensor. Any guidance/help would be greatly appreciated. Thank you!

There are quite a few threads on catch cans- many with pictures. Some can be seen listed below in the "Similar Thread" list. I also tagged some with the tag "Catch Can"

In the meanwhile, it may serve you well to remove the stock condensate/separator box and clean it out. You should be able to find info on that too. It is recommended by our turbocharger manufacturer.

I installed a new one last week, I was suspecting that the valve was getting stuck open. I will look into that. Thank you!

AAD's catch can works from the PCV to the intake manifold. The photos on their site are wrong, I've confirmed this with their team. Basically, you unscrew the the check valve from the stock AOS box (the one pointing up towards the hood) and screw that into the catch can. You take a standard valve from the AAD kit and screw that into where the check valve used to be, then you run vacuum hoses from the AOS box to the catch can and from the catch can to the manifold (back by the firewall).

I took this photo after someone totaled my 500T, so it's not the best, but it's all I've got right now. The 4.1 intake blocks most of what I'm describing.

OK, nice, you are the second person then I've found that has done it that way. How good are the AAD catch cans?, I'm asking just in case I need to know about any possible future air leaks. Now I'm wondering if I can put two catch cans, one for the intake manifold side and the other one for the intake pipe side, I mean the cleaner the system runs the better right? BTW I can't see the picture you are trying to show.

I purchased my catch can used and it seems fine. I don't know how to evaluate catch cans. I don't really see it collecting any oil but when I pull the bottom part off it smells like oil and fuel vapor. From a general machine quality perspective, it's a top notch product. The bracket holds it in place perfectly, but it might be a tight squeeze if you aren't running a smaller battery. Be warned, they make a version specifically for Fiat 500s and they also have a generic catch-can. I think the only difference is the bracket, but I see the other one on ebay more often than the one custom tailored for our cars.

I've heard of people running multiple catch cans without any problems, but I can't speak to that myself. If I was going to supplement my AAD, I'd probably go with EuroCompulsion's version, mainly for the custom bracket. I'm not set up to fabricate parts, so a properly made solution is worth the extra couple of bucks for me.

I see, thank you for the information. I was looking into that as well, running the ADD with the Eurocompulsion one as support.
