2012 Sport Lower Control Arm Replacement

I was at the shop getting my tires rotated and an alignment done and they said that the alignment cannot be accurate because the lower control arm bushings are bad. I looked at replacements, and its the entire lower control arm assembly. Has anyone performed this replacement to gauge how difficult it is?

Youve probably already had the car fixed, but there are a few vids on YouTube showing this procedure. It looks to me as the hardest part would be removing the front bumper cover to access the bolts to remove the suspension braces that block access to one of the lower control arm bolts. The job doesnt seems to require special tools or experience. Ok

Yes I did end up doing the job. Wasnt bad at all, actually, with the exception of the drivers side I kept having the sway bar getting in the way of the install. Really frustrating part was that once i got the arms off, the bushings were fine (apparently the tire shop just didnt want to do the alignment).

Everything I've read on the control arms claims that the ball joint will wear out before the bushings will.

I took a car in for alignment special at a Mr. Tire once. They said it couldn't be aligned because the lower ball joints were bad. On a Honda with less than 100k. Both lowers. They were fine.

They tried to say they couldn't give me my keys back until I signed some garbage, too. I asked them if the cops would agree with that and they just let me leave.

My wife took hers somewhere (Midas?) to get an alignment special and they scared her into changing both her front brake calipers at about $900.

    It's all a make-work scam.
