There is no light for low coolant, so you need to keep an eye on it. A light means an overheat, and that is something you do not want to do.

    2018 Blue Denim Trekking...

Just traded in our '15 Pop on this brand spankin' new 2018 500L Trekking in Blue Denim with white roof. This is for my "other half" as was the Pop before it. We were originally going in for a new "turbo" Pop 5-speed, but of course only two 500C's on the lot with nothing else in miles. Test drove a 124, this 500L, a 500x, and then this 500L again. After it was all said and done, we settled on the 500L... Obviously. Two of my three brother were with us, and they agreed with us as well that this was the best choice, and we all actually preferred this to all the others. We love the non-metallic blue as well as the leather interior. I have a feeling this poor 500L isn't going to stay stock for long. LOL

Thank you! We love this color also. They had this one, a white one and a red one. I walked straight to this one as did everyone else. It's a great color combo, and down here in Florida, I'm sure that white roof will help a lot in the heat of summer and the ability for the a/c to cool down the interior. This car definitely cooled down a lot faster than the all black 500X we also test drove. In fact, the 500X never really got to a comfortable level in the short amount of time we drove it, which was the same amount of time we drove the 500L.

Well done! Very distinctive color combo! Might as well call the tint guys...our cars have a LOT of glass!!! I'm hoping to get my front two windows tinted this week. Hard to believe we waited this long; but business is booming for the tint folks with 50 days over 100 degrees this summer!

        What's the interior color combo?

All black leather, heated seats. Comfy and roomy.

And yes, definitely going to get the windows tinted. I have a guy I've been going to since the mid 90's, does a great job and warranties his work for the life of the car (at least for as long as you own it). He's done every car I've ever owned.

Same here. I never really cared for them that much. The front end always looked "meh" and the rear end was just hideous to me, but this one, the Trekking front end is a it aggressive and sporty looking, and the rear end is still hideous. LOL On the other hand, the interior is quite nice, quiet, comfortable, roomy, and it has decent power even when loaded down with my girlfriend and both of my brothers in it. Even with the 500L loaded down with all of us in it, it still has more balls than the '15 Pop did with just me in it, and that was a 5-speed.

I'm thinking maybe a little ways down the road throw on an intake and tuner for a solid 200+ hp and 220+ ft lbs of torque may be just what the doctor ordered for this little guy.

Really nice color combo, for sure.

The new dash is a nice step up, with one pet peeve. If Fiat would just switch the Speedometer and tach with each other, a driver could actually see the speed of the vehicle because the most common speed range would be visible. As it is, the speedometer is useless when you're, say, driving. I'd have thought they'd have used the redesign to resolve this.

I really have no clue what you're talking about. There's absolutely nothing wrong with the current gauge cluster layout. Maybe you should try properly adjusting your seating and steering wheel position. I'm 6'1" and have no issues at all viewing everything in front of me.

On a brighter note, the 500L hasn't even hit 200 miles yet and I already have a Euro+Drive Pedal Pro and Eurocompulsion intake ordered for it.

I have to agree with akcap...the speedo is too far left of center. I find myself leaving the digital readout on "speed" to get that info at a glance. I'd prefer to have 'instantaneous fuel consumption' info front and center; but not at the cost of a speeding ticket because I can't see the speedo easily.

I've been driving and adjusting seating positions for 50 years, from school buses to Miatas. I doubt that's the issue.

Well I don't seem to have the same issue, nor does my girlfriend. In my 370Z, I have a nice large tach front and center.

Anyway, the new parts will be here Friday.

Hey Chops, congrats on the '18 500L- I think you might be the first on this forum who has taken delivery of one. Personally I think the 2018 is a huge improvement over the 14-17 generation, both inside and out. I really like it (even the rear end, LOL). I believe for those who have difficulty reading the speedometer, you can set the center display to read out your speed in digital format. At least our 500X allows you to do that.

Great color combo. If I were in the market (my wife tells me I'm not, at least for the time being), I'd be tempted to pop for the light grey interior, though I'd be concerned about it staining and/or discoloring quickly. But yeah, the leather gives it a wholly different and more upscale ambiance to the interior. The seats struck me as quite comfy the two times I test drove one. Great car- hope you can keep us posted as you accrue miles.

BTW, US News, while predictably maligning the car in general, notes that JD Powers gives the 500L an above average reliability rating of 3.5 stars out of 5. No commentary beyond that- of course they made a career out of reporting below average reliability ratings when the car was new to the market, with plenty of accompanying colorful commentary. Fiat has never gotten a fair shake by the the auto press in this country.

                            Thanks for the complements!

Sitting in this 500L feels more like sitting in a decent-ish luxury car with the leather seats and that really nice leather wrapped steering wheel, which I might add looks a heck of a lot better than the older steering wheel. It rides like a car as well, not at all loud, harsh and bouncy like the Pop was.

Everyone comments on the color combo, and I agree. It's a great color combo. I just love that non-metallic blue. And I'm not one for pin stripes (I always peel them off as soon as I get the car home), but it doesn't look half bad on the 500L. With this car, it actually accentuates the style of the body. I never thought I'd ever say that about pin stripes.

Fiat always getting bad reviews is just exactly like Hyundai and Kia. To this day, those two brands still catch crap even though they are about the best bang for the buck out there these days with one of the highest reliability records going. Some people just refuse change and apparently refuse the facts. But hey, I don't base my judgement on others reviews, at least within reason. Common sense goes a long way, something a lot of people (reviewers) lack these days.

Even though these Fiat forums have little action on them, I'll still keep updating my thread on this little 500L. We plan on doing lots more with it in the future.
