David, any issues with switching the front headlights long term? I've read a few threads where some people said they have gotten too hot or had issues with the electronics boards. Which brand did you use?

    Thanks in advance!

I picked up a set of LED headlights from Amazon. they fit inside the housing without any modifications required/no cutting. No error message either.

Only 37 dollars. These have a large passive heatsink and no FANS. I'm not a fan of Fans with the noise and all. I can't say that they're significantly brighter but they are nicer in color and not so yellow.

I have tried 3 different DRL LEDs no success so far.

I put LASFIT backup lights, they work great, again no error messages. I also did the interior with LEDs and didn't run into any messages or issues. I think the error messages only apply to some of the bulbs.

The lights on the sides of the bumpers also got upgraded to LEDs again no error message, (one of the original bulb was out and I didn't get an error message)

I tried a few LEDs for headlights and all were performing poorly when comparing to HID.
The 500e headlights are actually very good for light distribution and focusing on long distance.

All LED kits produced some shadows or distorted the light pattern to the extent that the OEM halogen worked better.
I sold my 500e with the HID kit I installed. I was really happy with them. A bit loud high beam switch, but I did not care.
