TurboCord plug - Has anyone used it?

I saw this plug online and was curious if anybody has used this to knows anything about this as an alternative charging plug. Thanks in advance.

I haven't used one, but it's only going to give you 3.5kw-ish or about half the potential charge rate. If you are ok with the longer charge time then it would work just fine. What I like about it is how portable it is. A NEMA 6-20 outlet is not very common however so if you plan on using it away from home consider you'll need an adapter which isn't going to be the most code legal thing out there.

My one concern would be the lack of being able to lock the cord to the car if it being used in an open area someone could easily just steal it. They offer a lockable box that holds the base of it, but that does you no good out and about.

    Aerovironment makes good stuff.

Aerovironment chargers (including TurboCord) are the ones sold at Fiat dealers. They are simply rebranded with a Fiat sticker.

Great point, Rick. Thanks! I never thought of that. I live in South Florida, land of 1000 thieves. :-)

I am going to post this, but maybe you know. Can you actually use an "extension" on the 110v charger. I saw a video where they say not to, but I wasn't sure if this is just a another manufacture warning that really doesn't apply. Kinda like change oil every 3000 miles. Have a great day.

Carvana just sent me one as a replacement (06/15/2018). I like it so far. Haven't had a chance to try the 240 yet.

The local Fiat "dealer" would not ship it to me (too far to drive my 500e :-) ). They said I had to sign for the replacement charger it person. Another reason I avoid dealers at all cost, but that is whole other topic. :-)

They gave you a TurboCord as a replacement for the OEM Level 1 charger? That was a great deal!

Why not save the money and get a 240V installed and cut the charge time to 3 1/2 hours? Your already 2/3 there with the spending. California had a program that reimburse you for electric vehicle which pays for the 240V unit itself. Does Florida offer the same?

Not sure I have already mentioned this, I live in an old apartment with horrible electrical wiring.

It has been almost eight months using public chargers. Seems to work perfectly. Boss lets me charge at work using turbo cord and a 110v when needed. Otherwise, there is a Sema charger about a football field distance from me at work if I need a fast charge. And all over South Florida, there are public EV chargers, some free.
