        Agreed.

There is no reason for FIAT and ABARTH owners to give up on their cars or this site. Many of the parts will remain available for some time if the brand(s) pull out of the US and there will be techs (CDJR and indies) with knowledge on how to work on them.

I thought I would post this here, Fiat is about to get paid they just sold their parts company MM Magelli morelli, for $7.1 billion. According to the news report they got offered 1.2 billion more than a market analystist said they could get. Not sure that will mean for the fiat mopar parts, but they are about to get paid seriously.

so wait a second - this thread just sputtered a day before the 'big announcement', and no mention of Marchione's death in July. Did FIAT pull out of North America, or didn't it?

No. Curious where you heard they pulled out? They've already announced the 2019 500L and 500 1957 Edition and they have car ads on the internet all the time. We do have another thread on Marchionne's death in July.

Yes, FCA is getting paid. But MM is (Magneti Marelli) is an institution. The company going to the Japanese is not really something for any true enthusiast to celebrate.

What are you on about and where were you this summer. A lot of time invested on the subject of Marchioness passing. Many of us truly appreciated while he was alive and realized the impact he made every day of his career. Many of us think of him as a hero... even in the face of others constantly slagging his decisions.

Did FIAT pull out of North America? No. FCA is alive and well... $7.1b isn't pocket change.

It is hard to hear this Italian company is being sold. Some of the brands and subsidiaries Magneti Marelli controls:
                        • AL-Automotive Lighting
                        • Carello
                        • Cromodora
                        • Cofap
                        • Ergom Automotive
                        • Jaeger
                        • Mako Elektrik
                        • Paraflu
                        • Securvia
                        • Seima
                        • Siem SpA
                        • Solex
                        • Veglia Borletti
                        • Vitaloni
                        • Weber

I can't believe all these brands are not controlled by Fiat anymore. Total wipeout of Italian heritage.

Duh. Regardless of what the dope Martin Brundle thinks, the only reason Scuderia got marginally close to Mercedes the last two years was because of Marchionne. It just sounded back in the June posts FIAT were pulling out. Guess those posts were unfounded. Hence, the question, “what’s the latest.” Near me, there isn’t a Fiat / Alfa dealer for 35 miles in any direction, and I’m in a really populated, Ca. county.

Hopefully it will result in some more fiat models for sale here in the USA 🇺🇸

The rumor was going around for a while. The writing was on the wall when Mopar took over development for FIAT and ABARTH brand cars in North America. North America is the part of the world where ABARTH isn't a dedicated division. So at least those FIATs are still traditional Italian economy-sports cars. I know we live in a global-industry world, but some things ought to be kept sacred.

I agree it's better for a Japanese company to have MM. That culture tends to hold tradition in high regard. I suspect MM will return to their electronics roots as the Japanese will likely want to exploit MM for e-car and hybrid development rather than tuning capabilities. I am hopeful MM will join Blitz, HKS, J's Racing, Mugen, M &M and many other revered high end tuning houses on the track.

Yes... It would be nice to see FCA use that money to support the petrol cars, but it's more likely the company will use the money for e-car development.
