    That's always been my assumption. Sold as the full switch assy. Doesn't say what's behind the grille.

    I've always assumed it's an aspirated (sucks in air using a little fan) temperature sensor to track what the cabin temperature is.

    Oooh, can someone confirm that the manual HVAC dash doesn't have one? Might be on to something.

    Anyone know where the ambient light sensor is? It was in this approximate location in my Golf.

    I don't think there is a fan but yes it leads to the interior sensor, but only if you have the automatic climate control. the knob version like the one in the video is just a hole.
