    2018 Fiat 500 Urbana Details

Fiat500USA.com Has Just Posted the Following:

The 2018 Fiat 500 now features dramatically more power than ever before. The Fiat 500 hatch and Cabrio models have been given a Turbocharged MultiAir engine that produces 135 hp compared to previous year's normally aspirated engine that put out 101 hp. This 34 hp increase means the already peppy 500 now has the most horsepower in its class. To put it mildly, the new car is going to rip.

This is all especially true if "now features dramatically more power than ever before" means "exactly the same power as a year ago."

I am talking about the 500 hatch and Cabrio which had 101 hp last year (and since its introduction in 2011). There was no 500 Turbo last year. Not seeing where I am off?

Brings to mind the 'If a tree falls in the woods'-question: If a Fiat 500 is improved but few dealers are around, let alone stocking it, will there be enough people who will go out of their way to buy it?

I know we get reports of some dealers closing, but according to FCA, there are around 340 dealers now, which is up from the 200 or so dealers that we had a few years ago. Sounds like some of the standalones are closing while the Fiat brand is being incorporated into CDJR dealerships. Now who would do a better job at selling is another issue.

they list more dealers, but plenty of them are just CJDR dealers with no Fiat signage and little to no Fiat inventory. Several in the midwest listed carry just a few cars (literally, 2 or 3 cars) total and often its just 124's. I dont believe the number of dealers really carrying the full line of fiats has increased at all.

I also have to think dealers with virtually no inventory are unlikely to have a fiat tech who is experienced working on fiats.

Our local CJD dealer has ****ty inventory and no passion or advertising to get newcomers in the door.
I was really excited last year when they got fiat- but they don’t care enough for the brand.
Was going to do a deal on a 500x or a discounted L took a test drive in the X but dealer didn’t call us back with the info he said he would.
Bought the X all the way in Pennsylvania and then tried to deal with another returning customer (me) deal in Columbus and dealer dropped the ball on 3 occasions.
It’s like they don’t want to sell Fiats but have tons of Alfa’s on their lots.
2 big purchases missed with 2 seperate dealers!

And the story goes on. I think I read someplace where they want dealers inventories way down when they kick the 2018 loose. But like alot of other people you go by dealerships around here and there is nothing hardly on the lots to begin with and an Abarth is far and few between that are new. Maybe inventories will change in the near future.
