think of adding one...even better if it makes it sound more "Italian" if that makes sense. Not full on Abarth, but don't want it to sound like a lawnmower. When I searched, only found single exhaust replacements.

This is a genuine Fiat 124 Abarth Rally the holy grail of performance for 124 Spider, so anything that you can replicate from this car is a no brainer as far as working and getting gains. They used a single exhaust as that's really all you need and the dual exhaust on a single bank engine is pretty much just for looks. The 124 Abarth Rally used an independent rear suspension and you can't use that exhaust on a non-Abarth Rally.
Generally, back in the day people would get an Ansa or maybe a Daytona exhaust system from FAZA. If you were lucky, you could get an Abarth system, or rear section but they were tough to find in this country and I have my doubts they made anything for the newer 2 liter Spiders anyway. These systems gave you the look and they were free-flow and throaty. Gains are generally small or non-existent unless you tuned your car or desmogged it. They were also generally heavier than the stock system, too.
Weight and complexity would be a disadvantage of a dual exhaust and I don't remember one being offered. Faza had a bunch of different systems available and they may have had something, but I'm at work and don't have my catalogs around. I did have a dual , 4 pipe rear section on a 128 I had back in the day from Faza/ Daytona.
A good stock system is hard to beat. The one thing that you can improve on is getting a dual outlet exhaust manifold if your car doesn't have one. That is the hot ticket and the bases of any performance tuning. Headers are available, but many are problematical, noisy and can cause heat related problems liked cooked distributor, coils or coolant reservoirs. The best headers replicate the Abarth's standard header that came on the car.
There are single performance systems available through the popular Spider retailers that sound good and may give a mild performance gain. Some are stainless and that can help with durability.

Thanks...this was more about looks than gains anyways. Was just thinking if it had the dual exhaust like the modern Abarth, might look a bit better. This is going to be more our Sunday drive/out antiquing car than bombing the back roads blowing off steam like the Abarth...though that may change a bit once I finally get to drive her. Tried to get an update from the mechanic the other day, but they were swamped and didn't get back to me. Haven't called for more money yet over the initial deposit..so that's something. Wanted her back by May 5th for a charity cruise. Wife is going out of town Memorial day weekend to play pirate at a Ren Fair, so I made reservations in Arkansas for that weekend to just get a way and go for a drive...so hoping I can take her for that also.

I was asked once, knowing what I know now about my inlaws, if I would do it all over again. I said "no, I would have married an orphan."
I forgot the other issue with dual exhaust. The gas tank is right there.

Thanks...didn't realize that. Guess I'll wait until we get the car back..see what we have left in the budget for it and what's left...and go from there.
