    Transmission 9speed issues?

Anyone had issues with the 9 speed not shifting right?
My wifes 200 with the 9speed seems to be jerky when you shift from a stop r to d?
Do you think its damaged? Does anyone with their 500X have this problem?

Chrysler 200 is shifted with an electronic knob.

Fiat 500X is shifted with a mechanical moving shaft.

The reason I mention that is it is easier to "rush" a shift from reverse to drive using the knob and electronics. If I go immediately to drive after backing up in the X there is a bump in the drive line. I've learned to stall after reversing for a couple of seconds before engaging drive. If I rush it I do get the driveline shock. Probably true of any automatic trans.

There have been many updates to the transmission software. In the case of the 500x, some of these have taken care of harsh shifting. I wouldn't be surprised that would be the same for the 200. If your car is under warranty I would bring up the harsh shifting and ask for any software updates that address transmission performance.

I have dealt with them also from about 6 months after I bought the car and I have had it for 2 years now. The dealer tells me "Thats just the way it's supposed to drive" and more or less blows me off. I have had 1 update and it fixed the issue temporarily but it's back again.

    Is yours yellow?
I am asking as ours acts a lot with shifts. There was another 2016 Trekking Plus in this dealer with exactly same issues. Yellow as well. No repairs are helping.

IMG_20190116_105955.jpg Nope Flat Bronze Metallic. Also bought this in SW Florida. But yeah my issues are hard shifts from 1st to 2nd and from 4th to 5th this is all in the morning when its not totally warmed up but it still shouldn't do it at all. Also I have issues with coming to an almost complete stop with rolling a little then taking off again and BAM there is big time hesitation from the gas pedal it seems. Was contemplating on trying a GO Pedal Plus to see if that will fix my hesitation issues. I have an appointment at the dealer to try to fix it again next week but I don't have any confidence it being fixed totally.

A better lubricant often fixes harsh shifting in other transmissions. It has for me everytime I have tried it, from jeeps and cars, to long haul trucks, to bikes, to mowers. I would seek another product that applies and see if that helps if the dealers aren’t much help. There are some sub par lubricants used by mfgrs, and most often better ones out there that meet spec. It is difficult to sort them out sometime because of the trade games played by certain manufacturers, but you may find something that helps and meets spec, or at least protects just as well or better and exceeds spec even if it doesn’t have their “seal of approval”.

but, if in warranty, first go through the proper channels, and perhaps ask for a fluid change, along with any pending updates

    Exactly same what we have.
1-2 was hard and a lot of hesitation.
4-5 - this one can be explained as it has to do with the design. I do not remember exactly, but 5th gear is somehow different and it causes a slightly longer shift and a tad more rough.

Also, coming to a full stop, but very gently rolling - when it downshifts from 2-1 - do you experience "bump", like dumping clutch?

If you are interested in Go-Pedal - let me know. I have one that I barely used.
Since we are planning on letting the car go, GoPedal may go now.

Software, lubrication - nothing helped so far.
It is mainly cold weather related. The colder it is, the worse the results.

Cold is exactly where a better oil can help, in my experience. an oil that does not flow as freely in cold temperatures can cause harder and delayed shifts.

I understand your point and completely agree here.
However, and attempt was done and did not help at all.
In addition, I drove another Fiat 500X in the same conditions (it was -12 C during the day, overnight was -15 C). The car was parked at the dealer site for days. Smooth shifts from start. No need to wait.
Besides, there are not really any choices for ATF... the tranny asks for a specific one.

Sure, that helped a lot in my 2009 Elantra 5 spd manual. Nice, good quality synthetic gear oil made the tranny smooth again. This car had 30k miles when I did it. Fiat had 7000 miles when the problem arose... and never went away.
