    Koni alternatives when lowering 500e?

    Hello,

I obtained a set of the Madness Lowering Springs, and have been reading through all of the threads concerning them, but do not see any alternatives to using the Koni? Has anyone used these springs with a different (less expensive) shock?

    Thank you

I think some folks have used Corvette shocks, KYB Excel.

For rear shocks you can get some ABARTH "take-off's", shorter than stock and fairly firmer(I have a set that you can have for FREE + shipping).
Or you can get KYB GAS-A-JUST # KG5564/H137426, which I have recently installed on my lowered 2012 SPORT. Really like them!!
As for the front strut's, IDK!! I am looking for the equivlient KYB's or may eventually try to pick a pair of ABARTH "take-off's", or maybe buy new......

This discussion is about the electric 500e, which has 600 lbs of batteries primarily on the rear wheels. Are these suggestions suitable for a 500e? Has anyone tried these on a 500e?

Sure you get them in Houston. They're kinda rare in texas, but I got one, and have since seen two others. Matter of fact, most the texas listings I saw while searching were in Houston.

As for the original question, sorry, dont know. However, am sure someone who has done this before will chime in soon.

I'm jumping in here to say that I'm also in the same boat. I've read through the 46 pages on this thread (which is definitely a worthwhile read) and I think the general consensus is that Madness did a really nice job with the custom 500e springs (especially the second, more recent round) but may have gone a bit too severe on the drop for a daily driver. Most folks seem to have gone the route of using Abarth springs in the front (with stock shocks or Koni's) and cut 500e springs in the rear (with stock shocks or with Koni's) Bumpstops were also a hot topic between cutting stock vs. aftermarket.

I think I'm going to keep everything stock for a bit and see how it feels with larger wheels and better tires while keeping an eye out for Abarth springs.
