The fastest Abarth on the planet?

You decide. The bottom line is the Abarth 500 is a very cool car and Area 51 of Italy shows us what it could become. We should be very proud of our cars. This video is in Italian but I think you can still appreciate the work and effort that went into this car. Remember this has a Tjet motor but soon we will develop a US rocket with Multiair power. Turn up the volume and enjoy. This car will be at Freakout.

Has this car raced against any of Romeo Ferraris' concoctions (the Ciquone Gara 500s)?

At the time of this video Mefistofele was a daily driver built by Area 51 for Gianni Monnati. It is powered by a 1.4 liter Tjet motor which was used in Italy. The Ciquone was a purpose built race car, not an Abarth and I believe it had a 1.7 liter Alfa Motor and was incredible. In its short racing career it held off some of the quickest BMW'S. At the present time it is no longer racing or for sale.

Our next project is too build an Abarth that is a purpose built race car with sequential gearbox as used by Romeo Ferraris but it will utilize a Multiair motor which is limited to about 260HP if you want reliability on the track. Mefistofele has about 6,000 km of track use (not racing) but track speeds and still to this day the motor is flawless.

To be fair, the Cinquone is not simply a purpose-built race car and (technically) all modern ABARTHs make use of Maserati-Alfa Romeo tech for engines. F.A.Z.A. modified ABARTHs for track use and those are still counted among Scorpion legend. Ferraris' cars should be as well, no?

I look forward to future tuner advancements.

2 different unique animals. One is a street car and the other is a race car. One started as a stock Abarth with a vin number and the other is not an Abarth but a tube frame race car. Regardless I love the both and if it comes up for sale I may buy it.

All Cinquones are purpose-built race cars? I know they offer various options for road car versions of the Cinquone.

Cinquones are not ABARTHS? Check the FIAT 500: AUTObiography... FIAT S.p.A. lists the Cinquone among official Special Editions.

I don't know whether or not it's still up but I know Romeo Ferraris actually had a US market website. You may be able to get your hands on one.

I may be confused. If you are speaking of their street cars then Mefistofele has more hp and a much higher top speed. I checked and the Cinquone 248 has 248hp and a top speed of 240km as per their webpage. Mefistofele was tested by Elaborare magazine and they quoted 325hp and a top speed of 287 km. Both incredible cars. These are both street cars and not race cars and yes they are both Abarths. The have their Corsa version and I thought you were referring to that. That chassis was not built by Abarth and is a tube frame car. I wished they continued to race it
I doubt it will ever come to the states unless they decide to sell it.

I'm confused. NA ABARTHs are truly ABARTHs? Are any of the Tychy Factory ABARTHs truly ABARTHs? Are any of the Japanese built A124s ABARTHs? Does the ABARTH Division actually build chassis for modern ABARTHs?

FIAT S.p.A. counts Cinquone as a Special Edition FIAT-ABARTH. It's officially recognized in a FIAT S.p.A. publication. They don't single out the race car as unrelated... never have. Again, Romeo Ferraris is a tuning shop... similar to F.A.Z.A. The FIAT 500 ABARTH is the donor/source car. He's tuning the T-Jet motor in all variations. The heart of the car is an ABARTH. It's an ABARTH.

I think Mefistofele is cool by the way. I may be jaded by how many "Fastest ABARTH in the World" stories I've read. The true fastest ABARTH in the world, for me, is the 695 Biposto because it's 100% from the Tychy factory and tuned by ABARTH division in EU. The greatest modern tuner ABARTH is the Cinquone.

You are absolutely correct. The Biposto is the fastest Abarth in the world! I have been in them many times and just wish they were sold here. When I bought Mefistofele the owner then went out and bought a Biposto. It is not nearly the supercar performance or speed but it is beautiful! One day........
