It sounds like it could be a transmission issue or a problem from the car sitting for a while. It's a good idea to have a mechanic check it out.

    Esc issue or normal?

    2014 fiat 500l

When making turns from a stop, the esc on the evic flashes, and I lose most of my acceleration... Almost been hit a couple of times, because the car wouldn't go! I've read that there is no way to completely turn this feature off...
It doesn't happen all the time, and we can't figure out what the factors that determine when it kicks in or when it doesn't...
Is it supposed to do this?? Because if so, it's dangerous!
    Thank you!

Are you accelerating hard enough to spin the wheels? Does it happen when it is slippery outside or when you are on low traction surfaces? Any check engine lights? Did you bring it in to have a look at? Does it happen if you gently step on the gas?

No. I accelerating from a complete stop. Gently applying the gas. No possibility of wheels spinning and there are no variables such as wet road conditions! The only thing I have noticed is that it seems to happen if I'm turning from a flat surface, on to a slightly inclined one... My fiancé suggested it might be because of the hill assist feature, so I deactivated that, and its still happening!
I mentioned it last time I took it to dealership, and they told me that it's fine, and they couldn't replicate the issue...

May want to check your tire pressure, especially on the front wheels. You may have one tire that's low which confuses the ESC.

A split abs tone ring can cause issues with stability control in other vehicles. I’d look to see if that is a possibility in the Fiat system. As I recall it would intermittently apply the brakes in a turn.

We have the same sort of issue with our 2014 500L also.
We like to drive the back country windy mountainous roads and when making cornering turns accelerating, coasting or braking the steering will fight you (staying straight) until it would finally release almost making you overstreer. It also happens less frequently in town as Cincty describes. It happens more on left turns than right.
Also told the Fiat shop about it (since new) and they replaced the left CVC joint, but it came back soon after.
I recently replaced the front brakes and rotors, it made it better, but it was still happening!
Recently while mapping a poker run out for our British car group in the mountains, I had my foot near the brake pedal and felt it pulsing on it's own.
After thinking about it, I turned off the ESC (switch on the shifter console) and it immediately cleared up the problem.
Since then we have repeatedly turned the ESC off and enjoying driving the car again...

Sorry for the rambling, but it is dangerous driving while this occurring any time you have to corner hard!
