I have vmaxx Coilovers. Got them for a good deal off one of the Facebook buy sell groups. Not my first choice but it was a great price.. they’re almost like tein basis Coilovers. No preload, no dampening adjustment, only height. So I expected ride to be less than ideal since they’re more for an aesthetic mod than performance but after a month of driving on them to let everything break in and settle.. ride is pretty bad.
I am pretty low, not crazy slammed or #stancenation but my ride height is fairly aggressive. I find myself bouncing a lot and the ride feels harsh.
Good things I did do:
installed by local speed shop. Torqued everything back to factory specs. Got an alignment (two wheel technically but we checked the unchangeable rear to see if I needed plates to adjust toe).
Now for the bad:
Bump stop glue has broken off the height adjuster. Looks like they’re supposed to be attached but they weren’t so I ran the factory top mounted rear bump stops. Maybe cutting the OEM bump stops more would help ease the ride? I’ve only hit them hard on a few dips on the freeway.
The front springs are extremely compressed just to get up to a reasonable height. Not sure how much is too much to compress them? When I was adjusting them it got so compressed the car lifted off the jack stand.. and it’s still really low.
Maybe change out rear dampers for Koni?
worst case scenario I’ll just scrap these and buy some BC a Coilovers or something.
now for the wheels:
running 4x100 with wobble bolts and hub centric rings. Triple checked the wheels are balanced and it’s still shaking just a bit at around 65+ mph especially when accelerating. Common thing? Maybe change hubcentric ring? They’re 16x8 et25 Btw.
heres a picture of my car for reference on height. 500T
Thanks for reading my lengthy post
