How to tell how it is tuned?

Ok, so I am looking a previously loved Abarth at a local car dealer. It is a 2013 with just under 40k miles on it. It has an EC intake and an fmic. I I believe it also has a high flow cat because it is louder than a stocker, but not as loud as a catless one that runs around town. My question is, how can I figure out how it is tuned? It has a stock looking ecu. I went through the car and can't find a plug in tuner box. It runs good and no cel. Thanks in advance!

If there's a piggy back device, it'll be installed by the battery. Other than that, the only ECU flash tune I know of is Eurocompulsion's Euro+Drive. I believe those tunes are ECU specific, so if contact their customer service dept with the VIN they could probably tell if they made a tune for that car. That won't tell you the current state of the ECU, but I don't know why someone would go through the trouble of flashing the ECU back to stock if the dealership was perfectly happy accepting a non-stock vehicle.

Ok, so I think I will own this tomorrow. Now I need to learn more. Is a tune necessary with the EC air intake and fmic? Is it going to hurt anything to run without one? The car runs great as is and I will probably do some more mods one I figure out what all has been done to it so far. Thanks!

It's harder to sell your Euro+drive if the car hasn't been returned to stock. There's an additional charge to reset the unit if the stock tune hasn't been re-loaded. Which makes sense - otherwise you could load a tune then sell your tuner to someone else while keeping your tune.

In response to OP: you may want to try driving a known stock car then driving the one you're looking at. You'll notice a massive difference in power if it's tuned.
