    Grandmarkie's '14 500c Abarth

I needed a new daily so I could give my Audi RS4 a much needed winter break. I picked up the Abarth with only 8k on the clock this past week and I'm loving it so far. I never thought i'd get a convertible, but why not?

    Specs:
    100% stock
    2014 Bianco 500c
    Manual
    Black leather
    Beats audio
    17" wheels
    Black Abarth side decals
    Black mirrors

The day I picked it up:

    IMG_2255.jpg

    Plans:
    1. Detailing. It's in pretty decent shape, so only a 1 stage polish is needed, but it's still quite grungy.
    2. Winter wheels/tires. Since it's a daily in the Northeast, a set up 16" winters are on the list. I only see 1 option for snow tires on TireRack, are Blizzaks not available for us?
    3. Mudflaps. I'm not a big fan of the look, but I drove 500+ miles on my first two days of ownership and the side of my car was covered in tar.
    4. Suspension. While a fun car, the stock suspension is not very good. I have KW3's on my RS4, I may go the same route for the Abarth.
    5. Seats. The Sabelt seats look great, any owners have any luck fitting them in an NA car? While the stock seats look great, they aren't too supportive.
    6. Exhaust. I had a Tubi on the RS4 and loved it, so that's my top choice.
    7. Misc. exterior/interior bits. Euro LED tails, matte grey emblems and such, new shift knob, floor mats etc. etc.

Serious question, as I've never seen anyone do this... Why do you use tape for a detailing job?

          A few reasons:

          1. Avoid getting polish residue on any rubber/plastic
          2. Avoid burning/overpolishing any corners, high spots or sensitive areas

            I finally finished detailing.

            Interior:
I took the seats out of the car to make it easier to vacuum and condition the leather seats. I used Leather Masters Trio which is great at keeping a matte finish. I tried Sonax Dashboard cleaner for the interior pieces this time around, which works ok. I normally use Einszett Cockpit which I find to be much better.

Nice! What compound did you use for the taillight swirlys?

I used the Menzerna Super Finish. I got the tails to about 90% swirl free with this, I could have used a more aggressive polish but I wanted to stick with stage 1.

                        Suspension:
IMO, the weakest part of the platform is the suspension. I originally wanted the KW3 coils, but couldn't justify the price. I ended up with Koni yellows front and rear paired with H&R springs. I also purchased the Neu-F torsion bar, H&R spacers (5mm front, 15mm rear), new OEM front top mounts and Energy Suspension rear bump stops. I also removed the rear lower spring isolators which lowered the car an additional 1/2" or so with no ill effects. Overall, it's a much improved ride, i'm happy!

The suspension modification has made your car look really good. I agree with you that suspension upgrades makes a very dramatic improvement in these cars.

I have enjoyed the detailed explanations of what you have done with your car. You are definitely someone who knows what your doing.
