    Buy 2015 500e vs lease 2017

Currently stuck between picking up a 2015 off lease or leasing a new 2017 and trying to decide.

I have test driven a few 2014 models and all had the issue with the USB volume being much lower than the other stereo channels. Any workarounds?
Wondered if any owners out there with other model years experienced the same issue. Specifically the 2015 (same stereo) and then the 2016/17 with the newer stereo unit.
I normally plug in my phone via USB or use a thumb drive for music. And of course for navigation. Nice that it comes through the stereo but low volume is not so nice.

Minor nitpick but wish they had kept the orange inserts in the seats and wheel instead of switching to white for the 2016/17s. Orange adds a nice pop of color and easier to keep clean.

Any other inputs or pros and cons welcome on helping to make the decision.

    welcome to the forum!

I'm not big on stereo systems in cars, so that's the last part of the equation in picking a car for me, and I'm a musician!

Comparing buying a used VS. leasing a new comes down to dollars and sense for me. Do you value owning something (buying) that might have some trade in value after you pay it off, or do you accept X amount of dollars as what you will pay every month to have a car?

Given the LOW prices of used 500e models coming off lease, I'd have to think that buying a used one under $10,000 would be the way to go for me. Maybe you could buy a cheaper used 500e and spend a little to upgrade the stereo unit.

Yes, that input is lower than the others on my 2017. Only really an annoyance when you switch back to radio and its really loud. On the off chance you didn't know, the first time you plug an iPhone into a new device the volume is really low, make sure you tap the volume up all the way on the side of the phone.

Yes the volume is low on our 2014 but I don't use it.
I'd say buy the 2015 and swap out the radio.

Same issue here, it is annoying. The CD and USB audio levels are the same. Since it starts playing whatever was its previous source until it can read the USB. My work around was to have it play a CD for those 10 seconds before it switches to USB.

I say buy a used one. They're really cheap. For all the little annoyances they're so cheap you won't care that much.

Agreed - the economic benefit of buying the used and runnnig it to the ground far outweighs anything else electric at the moment. I gave up on trying to locate a Bolt after numerous negotiation fails with GM dealers both here and in other states.
