Water leak in trunk door latch.

Has anyone had an issue related to water leaking in the rear door?

The other day my car was outside in the rain all day and when I opened the trunk at the end of the day there was some water pooled in the door latch area. I have shown a photo where the water was pooled. The latch on the bottom of the door was wet as well as shown in the second photo.

Is there an easy way to diagnose where the water got in?

    Thanks in advance.

    Hi Mark,

I'm sorry to hear about the leaking! If we can help get you in to your Studio to have this checked out, we'd like to help! Just PM your VIN if we can do that.

I have the same issue, every time we get heavy rain. The studio was unable to find the leak, and now my bumper to bumper warranty is over.

Water leaks can be among the hardest things to find. You can try sitting in the trunk area and have someone carefully use a water hose and systematically spray different areas that you suspect. The license plate light holder, license plate screws and trunk seal areas come to mind. Try to mimic a good soaking downpour and not use high pressure water because that may give you false positives. Removing the trim covering on the hatch may also help locate the leak. I'm thinking the license plate holder and area is where I would look especially hard. Good luck.

I have the same issue. The speaker light on my dah came on so I checked the trunk and the subwoofer was under three inches of water. It started about three weeks age when the park assist light started flashing then I heard what I thought was gas swishing when in fact it was the trunk full of water. I assume the speaker is history and the park assist light is on all the time now. My car is should still be under warranty and my vin is ZFBCFYDB6JP656317.
