Motor Mount TSB replacement - 2016 500x greatly improved idle vibration and ride

Great news for all who can't stand the harsh vibration at idle in the 500x especially at cold.

After complaining since the car was new, finally Fiat has come up with a solution. All the 2017 500x's have a new redesigned motor and transmission mounts that GREATLY reduce the vibration felt in the steering wheel and seat. I used to watch the hood vibrate water off of it but now it is silky smooth. An added benefit is the railroad tracks and small potholes don't jar you out of the seat and the overall ride is much smoother. I had the new redesigned mounts installed about three weeks ago and torture tested them before posting and they are the real deal. The install is completely free and only take a couple of hours. The only downside is the vibration in reverse when cold is MUCH worse but who drive in reverese.

That makes me think the mounts shifted the engine...

Ours is smooth. At least not so bad vibration as yours - hood is not shaking.
However, when going over bumps it feels like the wheels are heavy, unsprung weights. I would not relate it to the engine mounts, would I?

Yes the mounts do make a difference in the harshness of the ride for big bumps and the sensation is like the wheels slamming down. It is actually the engine smashing in the the VERY then mounts and occasionally bottoming out against the frame. Go drive a 2017 model and you will feel the difference of redesigned mounts!!

Also, you have to LOUDLY complain about the rough idle vibration to get the mounts replaced. I had to walk out after talking to the service adviser because they would not change them without verifying the problem first. I showed them the TSB paperwork and he said unless they determined they were bad they would not change them. A call to the Fiat Gen manager and the service manager finally got them to order the parts first to have them in hand before I came in to change them.

Make sure your are firm in your demand because the TSB states change if customer complains.

Hmm....the tsb is restricted to the 2.4. I've always felt the 1.4 shakes quite a bit at idle in the X whereas in my 500, it feels very smooth and refined. I can feel it vibrating in the seat. Once again, the 1.4 is ignored as the red headed stepchild.

Will this solve the rough starting/cranking of the engine? I noticed whenever I start my car I can feel the whole car shake. LOL

Thanks for the info, I told the my service department person about this tsb and they ordered the parts today and installing tomorrow. I just told them about the vibration at idle and the tsb. They didn't even questioned it

This answers a question I've had since getting my 500x. There is one sharp speed bump in a mall parking lot. No matter I go over it slow, I hear a horrendous sound of an engine pounding down on steel when I go over it. Just horrendous! I will get the new motor mounts installed. Thank you.

I just scheduled my 2016 500x Trekking in to be serviced under this next week. I know we have bad roads here in Seattle, but its become so rough and loud at: low speed, high speed, big bumps, little bumps, that I really hope this does the trick. It's starting to cause rattles in the interior and causes me to cringe constantly. Hopefully I can report back with good results. Any others having a better time after replacement?

I don't think mine improved, but others can tell the difference.

I am at my Fiat dealer and the service rep is saying that this TSB doesn't exist? Any idea where he might be directed to find it? Thanks.

                          Hi begin2see,

Do you have a 2016 500X? Your service advisor should be able to search bulletin 09-002-17, and once he does that, it should tell him whether it applies to your VIN.

So I brought mine into the Dealer as planned, except the maintenance was not what I was expecting. Ended up having a front strut and tower replaced, no motor mount work at this time. I'm not really upset that the motor mount wasn't done as I had no issues with vibration, just with a very rough ride over choppy roads. After a bit of a drive it is insanely better riding performance, and the service department said they've had to do a few strut replacements on others so far this year. Also got an Abarth 500 to cruise in over the weekend until parts came in which was stellar. Love our Fiat dealership in Seattle/Kirkland, great experience thus far.
