            Thx SRR,

Now we will have to see what they do on range. Distance per revolution is about the same as std but they are 1 cm wider. The Dunlops were the tires with the lowest rollresitance and lowest db’s: we will see and I will report here.

Until now the range has remained the same, so wintertires more use the same as the wider sommertires and non-standard wheels.

                gtz,

1.5 year on 205/50-15 Dunlop Direzza DZ102, initially lost ~5% range from wheels and tire, but gained it all back by pumping up tires to 40psi.

I've not seen anyone bring up tire weight. Getting lighter wheels means nothing if the tires you select aren't as light or lighter than OEM tires. Low profile tires can be SUPER heavy. I've also been absolutely shocked by the weight of the same size tire from another brand. In the 205/40R17, Delinte tires are noteably the lightest tires I've come across. They're not LRR, but they're not supposed to be; I was just using my experience as an example.

At low dollar, a super light wheel is often light due to the amount of air in the wheel due to the pouring process used to make them. I recommend the purchase of 5 wheels over 4, because of the inevitable rogue pothole! Much higher priced wheels are often lighter because they're made of a single billet ingot and milled, with much higher strength. Thinner tire/wheel combos, while not as good at cornering or stopping, are incredible in snow and can be much lighter than OEM. Drag car front wheels would be the absolute best option, IMO.

The wheel arches of the 500 are pretty big as well. Covering them will help your aerodynamics very well.

Doing all of that should yield a notable increase in mpkw.
There's a fine line between breathtaking innovation and, "that's the stupidest thing I've ever seen"!

                        Hi,
Something is changing on my range. The G.O.M. is now standard on 100 miles and over after charging. Outside air temperatures are constant the last two weeks over here so it must be the tires. They are the only things changed to the car.

                        happy with it,

                        Henri

By the way: the tires are at 36 psi.

I apologize for my simplistic and boring question here, I'm no car expert. Does anyone recommend tires for a 2013 Fiat 500E? My previous electric Fiat was a lease so I learned nothing about maintenance. After my lease expired, I purchased a slightly used one a couple years ago and the tires need to be replaced NOW. Evans Tires suggested Firestone Firehawks for $479 out the door. Yes? No? I really can't spend any more than this.

On a side note, I noticed a definite DECREASE in range when driving current Fiat with AIR in the tires instead of NITROGEN, as my leased one had before. My imagination? Not sure, but will stick with Nitrogen.
