    500e Rear Seat Delete

I was looking at http://shraderperformance.com/ and saw the rear seat delete for the 500 but it says it doesnt work for the 500e. 2 quick question 1) does anyone know why this kit wont fit(hopefully something small i can modify) 2)does any one know of a company that does sell one that fits the 500e. I know i'm posting a lot but i just got this car and i'm just trying to learn all i can. Thanks a lot for any help and anyone can give me.

I peeked at the installation instructions and don't immediately see why, but of course the reason would be the battery. Why don't you just ask Shrader Performance?

I think you should pull your rear seat, examine the layout and compare it with instructions in delete kits.

Curious to know why you want to delete the rear seats. Are you trying to shed weight or need flat cargo space? I haven't put the rear seats down yet, but in my MK4 VW Golf, the sound turbulence (hard to describe, it's like road noise with variable air pressure) when driving over 40mph with the rear seats down is kind of annoying. Maybe it's the sport tires or coilovers, but I wouldn't tolerate the noise for any trip longer than necessary.

It's a little bit of both. This car is just for driving to and from work. I will never have anyone in the back seat. For me its a win win. Save weight/Have more cargo room while still having the inside look nice.

rkw= I'm going to do that. I just wanted to see if anyone had any knowledge on the subject.

The majority of the weight from the rear seats is the backs. For this reason I left the "butt pad" in the car for "emergency" trips. It's almost level with the back. Plus I left the seat belts in as cargo straps. Works well for me!

The rear seat bottom in the 500e is hinged to fold forward. There is a pull strap in the middle, and you will need to feed the seat belts through. When you have it tilted, you'll see the HV battery disconnect cover. ICE 500s do not have this protrusion, so a standard RSD kit will not fit without modification. There are also 4 threaded studs that secure the rear cargo bins that would need to be ground off.

I'm going to make a filler for the floor from 2 inch insulating foam board and corrugated plastic sheeting with cutouts for the protruding objects. This should yield a sturdy, lightweight, flat floor to attach carpet, and everything can be restored later if needed.

Yep, those stick up as high as the seat channel. I'll get a pic of the studs today.
