I just caught up with this, Robert. I understand matching it with the Mazda equivalents, but is it really that much faster/better than the regular Fiat Abarth? I guess I haven't been keeping up with this. I know from all the tests and reviews that the 124 comes out second to the Mazda version, but with similar HP I would have thought a lower class. Oh well.. happy to be in HS :-)

My guess is that the Spider has such lower center of gravity, probably lower weight (haven't looked it up), that CS makes sense. The SCCA probably wouldn't put it in a lower class than the Miata, or the billions of Miata owners would have heart attacks and want to be in a slower class too.
