You could wait- 100% of vehicles (under 10,000 lb GVW) manufactured after May 1, 2018 are required to have them as standard equipment. From Automotive News ...

"The rules will phase in over several years. Automakers will be required to have compliant rearview systems in 10 percent of the vehicles they build from May 1, 2016, to May 1, 2017. That share rises to 40 percent for the next year and 100 percent starting on May 1, 2018."

No idea if earlier production 2018 500 Abarths will have the cameras. Using a factory setup may make installation easier but there's no way to know sure until it's actually out. There's always aftermarket- Best Buy carries a few different brands, some with reviews, and their Geek Squad will install them. I'd also ask some of our vendors here - they may sell them or at the very least they could recommend a system.

You could get one of these WiFi backup camera for your Iphone/Android. Or any of the other WiFi backup cameras if you do a search.

I think you can get a camera that is part of the rear view mirror. They have to replace the existing one. I think it costs about 600.00 installed. I had asked about one at the local Ultimate Car & Trucks where I get all work done on my vehicles

Yes, it’s an old thread, but has anyone ever tried to add a rear view camera to the 2017 stock uConnect NAV headunit? aka was the porting, connections already there but FIAT never hooked them up?

OR, do you think a dealer would order the MOPAR OEM parts, aka camera, headunit and wiring harnesses and then install them if you paid for it? I think it would be nice to have a backup in my 2017, regardless of how small the car is. There's always some stupid kid who's three feet tall who runs behind the car in a grocery lot while his mom is texting

True. But if you are in the Cabrio and have the top down you don’t know where the 3 feet are.
