    Wheel "roll" on tight u-turns

I'm not sure this is normal or not, but sometimes when I make tight u-turns (only tested doing left hand turns), I get one slight "wobble" or "roll" feeling on the front inside tire. It only happens occasionally and when it does, it is kind of like the front inside wheel make one little "lop" - almost like the wheel were egg shaped or something. I'm not sure I have described it well!

Has anyone experienced this? If so what is it?

Hmm.... here are a few ideas I'll toss out. Does the feeling change if you adjust the tire pressure? Is it only that one way? I would make sre everything is tight in the front end.

    Hi docmojoman,

Sorry to hear about this! If you decide to visit your local studio I'd be happy to follow up with them for you if needed. Just PM our page with your VIN and let me know!

Do you hear any clunking or whirring noises when you're into the left turn? A failing front wheel bearing could exhibit this symptom if the bearing has become loose enough that you would feel it as the side load causes the tire to hop.

Sorry guys, I fell for the classic blunder! I should have known when I was having so much trouble trying to describe this problem that I probably needed to test the issue more thoroughly before reporting it here!

Hopefully, I'll be able to take my car to an empty lot this week end and run some tests on her.

@FiatCares - thanks for your support! My Fiat studio Chriswell of Gaithersburg, MD has been nothing but helpful to me in my past dealings with them. I've had an overall vehicle inspection where they diagnosed bad rear wheel bearings (fixed @ my speed shop), a replacement of my pcm & they handled my clutch recall. All without incident AND for all three visits while I waited! Although they seem to only have one Fiat guy, I rate them highly, and you can tell 'em that I said so!

My 2012 makes a popping noise on tight u turns i dont feel anything bc im always going so slow but definitely have a studio look at it mine was front also and today they deemed it needs the front axle and tire rod replaced yet again as i just had this done 10k miles ago and i drive nothing but highway. They have a design flaw one of many im learning mines getting dumped as soon as i find something to replace it with. Buying a fiat was the worst decision of my life. If you keep yours invest in a warranty plan of some sort youll need it. Theyre expensive to fix even normal items like brakes and they break often. They also eat rotors apparently so have that checked if you havent. Make sure you tell the studio its happening when you make a tight u turn or they will tell you they dont notice it. Fiat mechanics are apparently idiots

How often do you make tight u-turns? That isn't good on ANY car. I haven't had any of these problems in 37,000 miles of mostly trouble free driving. The few small things I had were fixed under warranty and no issues since. Love the car, excellent engineering and will KEEP a very long time.

Just added STS rear sway bar, BMC reusable air filter and Spare Tyre with cover.

It could be the front struts shifting in the tower. The top mount allows some movement. The rear wheel lifting could also be what you are feeling. Have an observer watch your car while you make some turns.

Please report back as to whether you feel the same way after 75,000 or (if you make it to) 90,000 miles.

Just because you had a problem doesn't mean everyone else does.
