Even though the 1957 Edition started selling in 2014, were some 2014 Model Years and others 2015 Model Years?
Someone in California is trying to sell me a 1957 purchased mid 2014 and calling it a 2015. Carfax and every other VIN check service labels his VIN as a 2014 Model. What will DMV call it?
If my insurance ever needs to total it, which year will they base the value on?
I know that most cars of any make manufactured & sold in the fall are legitimately the next years model.
Anyone know for sure what happened with the first 1957 group to arrive in the USA? I see an Arizona dealer selling a 2014 model.
Thanks to anyone close to the situation that really knows.
Thanks to all for great info below! CASE CLOSED.
The freelance reseller in the LA area was misinformed and insisted the car, while sold in July 2014 was a 2015 Model.
When I finally got to meet the owner and see the Reg & Title, the owner corrected the sales agent.
It was a 2014 on all documents.
Several Fiat dealer staff and an insurance agent believed it was a 2015, even given the VIN.
http://www.fiat500usa.com/2013/08/de...t-500-vin.html showed it as a 2014.
Calif DMV & AAA said 2014.
Yes, the Cabrio arrived as a 2015 Model.
This plain vanilla 1957 Edition hard top had some curb rash on body and 3 rims. We paid around $11K private party with 20K miles.
Thanks again for the forum time & wisdom!
