I'm way up in Cottonwood! It's about 100 miles north of Phoenix. I've been down to Phoenix exactly once. I went down for a reflash at the Scottsdale Fiat dealer. Seems to me there is/was a club of some kind down in that area, but I don't know anything about it. I'm up in the boonies, where the Fiats are scarce.

I don't know if there is a Cars and Coffee in that area either. Where all kinds of cars get together once a month. Wait, here's one, in Scottsdale:

Next one is Sep 17th, 7a-11a.

Geez, way to volunteer me for the entire state of Arizona. hahaha

I don't know ANYONE! I had to cane it to the car to drive to the drive through at Dairy Queen to get some tasty bargain meal as there was no way I could walk around the grocery store to buy anything. And it was painful. Mark me as the least likely to move, let alone drive anywhere to meet up and do things. Sigh.

Not new to Phoenix (retired here since 2003) but just purchased a 2013 Abarth with 9100 miles. Car was a replacement for my motor cycle. So far like the car. Made one trip to Colorado in it and it was fun. I've had sports car for years and as they say its more fun to drive a slow car fast than it is to drive a fast car slow.

Hope you like Arizona, it gets better when it cools off. We are Patriots fans and go to a Pats bar for all the games. If you are interested let me know.

Thanks everybody! I've seen quite a few Fiats here compared to Maine where I came from. I live in Maricopa and have see 4 or 5 running around. I think Maricopaman waived to me the other day.

Check out AZ-Abarth on FB for all the latest on cruises and meet-ups.

There are also two well known car gatherings in the Phoenix area:

-- Cars and Coffee (Scottsdale, first and third Saturday's of each month, very early AM - the FB group Scuderia Southwest has all the meetup details for the first Saturday of the month. The third Saturday is Sponsored by the Scottsdale Penske Automotive Group: at the Penske Museum).
-- The Pavilions Saturday afternoon/night meet up (this is an all marque event - 101 & Indian School Road. Sponsored by McDonalds).

    Welcome to AZ!

What do you think of Arizona so far? I've been in the state just over a year and I'm really enjoying the weather. I came from San Francisco near the coast, where we did not have any summer, just high fog and drizzle. Here we get summer AND those cool monsoon rains with lots of thunder and lightning.

I haven't been down past Phoenix, just went that one time to the Fiat service department in Scottsdale. Liked the Scottsdale dealer, they have all the FCA brands, so there's lots to look at while waiting. And a nearby mall with a favorite grocery store.

There's an IKEA down there somewhere, which is good for basics if you didn't move a lot of stuff with you.

I think those huge cactuses around Phoenix are interesting. Certainly didn't see anything like those in San Francisco, and probably not too many in New England either.

I don't know about Maricopa, but Phoenix has summer weather all winter. Way up here in Cottonwood, we can get isolated via snow in the mountains one way or another, and I know nothing about snow driving. Flagstaff can get very snowy, and there is winter skiing up in those parts somewhere. Not what people expect for a "desert state", but there are all kinds of terrain here, and you can find many things to do.

I'm disabled, so I don't get out much. If you're active, you can find many physical things to do, rafting, boating, kayaking. Up at Lake Pleasant, they have guided kayak tours at NIGHT! Check them out here: http://www.maricopacountyparks.net/things-to-do/

There's still a beginner's kayak class coming up in September:
    http://www.maricopacountyparks.net/t...nner-kayaking/

Stargazing is another popular thing to do, since there are dark areas that will let you see the stars.

There are many old towns, with history, that you can drive to. I suppose they're mostly tourist attractions, but still neat to see. Up in my area, Cottonwood and Clarkdale each have "old town" areas. And nearby is Jerome, with more old town looks and history. Prescott over the mountain has it's old town areas. Check out any of the places on Wikipedia for some quick facts and links.

These are some of the things I looked up before moving here. Just in case the weather was a blessing and caused me to suddenly become healthier, I would have things to do. Alas, it's still the challenge to get to and around the grocery stores on the bad days. But if YOU are healthy, get out and explore, there's so much to see and do in this state.
